Meson A Curva - Réserver une table

This place had a great local atmosphere and the staff were friendly and helpful. It is more of a tapas bar than a restaurant but there is nothing wrong with that. They served a delicious white wine. If I had been rating this alone and we had only eaten the seafood starters I would have given it an excellent rating. The trouble is I have to compromise on the selection of restaurants with my wife and she usually indulges me but this time she wanted meat. She went for the escallop Milanese which was supposedly beef coated in breadcrumbs. I have to say it was cheap and so perhaps we should have expected it, but it was pretty bad. Tough meat to which the breadcrumbs had not adhered resulting in a soggy greasy mess served with cold chips.Perhaps you say we should have complained but we are British and not great complainers and we did not want to spoil the atmosphere of the evening. We were hungry and so I swapped my sea bass and potatoes for the Milanese and eat it. My wife was not going to). My wife said that the fish was preferable even though she has no great love of fish. The moral of my tale is that this is a restaurant to eat shellfish and not meat and the sea bass was only ok but cheap enough.

We were recommended this place by some locals in a vinoteca in Cambados (also very good), otherwise we probably wouldn't have happened upon it. But thank goodness we did, as it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. It seems to be a hotspot for local winemakers and chefs, and I can see why. Miguel was a truly wonderful host his passion and understanding of Galician wine just oozed from him, and we felt completely comfortable putting ourselves in his hands to select wines by the glass for us to drink. There is nothing pretentious about this place it is a simple taverna, but one that will bowl you over by genuinely warm hospitality, decent food and outstanding wines (with good glassware). Hands down our best dining experience in Galicia, we only wish we had arrived in a taxi so we could have enjoyed it even more... NB. Portonovo itself was also a very pleasant surprise and was far more charming than we had anticipated. Worth putting an afternoon aside to explore if you like food and wine.

We stayed in Portonovo last year and ate a number of times at this friendly local spot. The seafood is maginificent in particular I loved the tiny squid in a rich onion sauce, and the ray cooked in the local Galician fashion with saffron. Prices are moderate and on a par with most of the other local places. But the real bonus of this restaurant is the extensive wine list, which the manager Miguel is more than happy to make a recommednation from. He has a real passion for local wines from the Rias Baixas, Monterrei and Ribeira regions, but also the rest of Spain and further afield. We loved eating in la Curva and are looking forward to revisiting it on our return to Portonovo this year.

The seafood was just GREAT, the staff friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was cosy and busy in the same time. It wasn´t that big but I got the impression that people waited at the bar for tables and had some food and drinks there while waiting and the looked happy with that too.The location was good and the place easy to find. We were all very happy with all the dishes we ordered and we would definitly come here again. Everything was really fresh and it felt truly home made, yummi!

We stayed in Portonovo for a week and ate at Meson A Curva more than once: of the several places we tried, this was my preferred one in Portonovo/Sanxenxo. The seafood is great, the location near the port is really nice, the atmosphere of the place is very laid back, with friendly service. And for very cheap prices you get really great quality back: all the seafood is good, but I would suggest to not miss the Almejas a la Marinera!
