We chose to stay in a B&B in Hermonville partly because we could walk along the road to Les Mets Envies. However I found the experience rather disappointing. My starter was crab ravioli in a lemon grass bouillon. The ravioli had no taste of crab and the bouillon was watery. It was also bedecked with huge pieces of dill, fennel etc which were impossible to eat. My pluma of pork main was a bit pink and could have been browned or caramelised; it too was rather tasteless. The chorizo based sauce had some taste but was quite sparsely applied. However the pollenta cake and confit onion were good. The dessert was a bit better but I distrust anything garnished with a cape gooseberry! My wife's food was rather more appreciated than mine. We had a glass of champagne to start and a fair bottle of Langudoc red. The cost was €110, rather steep in my opinion for the quality.

We were on a back road on our motorhome holiday, hoping rather than expecting a 'bon trouve', when we spotted this place. It was 19.30 so I nipped in to reserve a table for 20.00. Job done. It was filling up as we freshened up in the car par and there was only 1 free table by the time we checked in.We ate the tapas platter to start the steak and magret de canard. As always in France they ask how you like it cooked - bleu and rose respectively for us - and it comes exactly that way. Excellent

We were seated near the door and politely asked if we could move as the cold wind came in through the door. We were given another table but the subsequent service was glacial. Our amuse bouche and beef brochettes were excellent. We were even ignored when we asked for the bill! My husband had to get up and request to pay. Such a pity because the food and ambience were lovely.

Our first visit....because last year we passed through was the one day they were closed. We booked via the Internet and got a nice table. The service was fast, efficient and friendly. The food was great. Specially decent portions.......meaning - not overflowing plates but still enough. Very tasty. Value for money too. We will be back. And....thank you!
