We were cruelly looking for another restaurant but decided to try Mexicali Blue instead as it was closer. So glad we did. Not sure what regular sized margaritas would have been but the small margaritas were perfect. Mind you, we don’t drink much normally so the portion was just right. We ordered a small salsa and chips, chicken strip soup, shrimp and steak fajitas, and the Cali Catfish taco, the Brooklyn Taco, and the Pork tacos from the taco Tuesday menu. Everything was good. I have dined at this restaurant multiple times and each time I have regretted my decision. Despite receiving the food network award, I will not be returning. I ordered the BBQ Brisket ($8) and The Brooklyn ($7.50 pork belly) tacos, with each price being for one taco. The BBQ brisket was generously portioned but lacked flavor. The Brooklyn taco was inedible, tasting dry and like burnt bacon. My wife ordered the Shrimp taco, which she enjoyed, but the Ahi Tuna taco was extremely rare, almost raw. The wait staff took our drink and dinner orders promptly but didn't return until after we finished eating, preventing my wife from sending back the tuna. Food was good, the little we got. We know inflation is hitting restaurants, but how about a corn chip at the table? Ordered a $19 burrito, which was delicious, but there was NOTHING additional on the plate except 2 slivers of lime. How about a few chips with the burrito? Still no. A side of refried beans is $7.00.... It's not even half a can! No need to pile on the extras given today's costs, but come on.
I used to come here alot, especially for their happy hour deals. Things have changed, most of the food doesn't taste as good as it used to and the portions are smaller with jacked up prices. Don't get the cider they offer, it's like a dry white wine. Overall it's a good place with a good atmosphere and good staff but the cost of what you get makes little sense. I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Our food was served in about 15 minutes and it was absolutely amazing. While the prices were on the higher side, the quality of the food made it worth it. The menu had a great variety and child-friendly options. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend dining here as it deserves more recognition.
I really enjoy this restaurant every time I visit! We always order the Pernil Nachos and decided to try the Harvest Sangria this time. Both dishes were incredibly tasty. Our server, who we've had multiple times, is always welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. The atmosphere is laid-back and enjoyable. We definitely plan on returning soon.
Best Tacos in the Tristate area! My husband and I are from Queens and nothing against it... Food is always fresh and bursting with taste. If you're ever looking for the best steak tactics, don't look further, here they are! Nowadays it is rare to find a facility that serves food in such high quality! Thank you.
