Quite hidden in Schwetzingen there is a unique place,Germany is not the place you will be looking for a real Mexican experience, unless you are a Mexican that has been living in Germany and craves some real Mexican food; if you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine and not just the popular tex-mex style this is your place. There is something for both meat lovers and vegetarians on their innovative menu, which can be described as modern Mexican with a twist.The portions are not too big, so our party of four could order a range of appetizers and main dishes to share: guacamole, tostadas, fajitas, 2 types of enchiladas and 2 types of camarones (prawns). We ate here twice. On the first occasion we had a great experience, it was a quiet night and the owner/waitress could not have been more helpful and friendly. We had good food although I can't say it's the best Mexican I've ever eaten. However on the second occasion it was a Saturday night and much busier. We waited ages for our drinks (beers) to arrive. I think this was down to one person in charge of making drinks and having to make a variety of cocktail type drinks. We then waited ages for our food order to be taken. There didn't seem to be enough staff to cope and also the owner/waitress spent ages chatting to other customers. Don't go there when it's busy.
Looks and feels very close to Mexico, even with some kids in the restaurant that gives a family feeling. The portions are well served, more than enough for me, but less copious than many german restaurants (where I normally won't empty my plate). The dishes are nicely presented and the taste is very authentic, maybe less spicy than in mexico, but that was ok for our international group (french, german, chilean and mexican). Although the waiter was a bit stressed (he seemed to be by himself for the whole place, with two people ocassionally helping), he apologized for letting us wait for the bill and all. We were a group of 10-14 persons including 5 children. The owners were kind enough to accommodate the kids in a separate table. Constant care and authentic Mexican food were the real plus of this evening. I'd recommend to start with some Guacamole to lead you to hunger. As a main dish, well try everything it is a travel through the Mexican cuisine.However, and because there was a however, the service can be improved especially from one of the staff member. Please make sure not to bump against the customer, and make the effort to deliver properly the food.Overall, a must try !
This is absolutely the best Mexican food that you will find in Germany. The owners are from Mexico City. They visited us at our table before and after our dinner service to ensure we were happy with our meals. They prepare all of their dishes every day, from scratch. The wait is a bit longer as their meal preparations require to order specifications. The wait is well worth it! We will drive the hour it takes to get into Schwetzingen to enjoy this authentic Mexican food again!
We shared everything at a table of four so we could try as many dishes as possible and they were all good. The food is really tasty with rich, interesting flavours. The drinks were excellent, especially the flavourful fruit margaritas and home made lemonade. The only thing we missed a bit was the attentive and friendly, happy service that many other reviewers commented on.
I went there for the first time by recommendation from other Mexican friends, and since then my boyfriend and I are regular customers of this restaurant, which we visit once or twice a month. Probably the best Mexican restaurant in Germany and I am Mexican! The food tastes just like in Mexico. It is freshly prepared and they offer real typical mexican food. Not your tex-mex food. The Chef comes and greets you, it is relaxin, the food is yummy. Highly recommended
