We went to Midi Bistro for my birthday! The server was very accommodating. They had a prix-fixe menu that suited most people. I had the pate terrine which was delicious. I would have loved a bit of dijon mustard with it or a bit of fruit compote to round it out - but it was delicious with warm bread. I then had the duck. It was perfectly done. My friends had the trout special. The portion was ample. I do think the chef needs to season things a bit more (my potatoes, the trout - we added salt and pepper liberally). My friend had the seafood risotto and the calamari stew - both which looked and tasted fabulously. The dessert, Tarte Tatin was fabulous. Will keep going here!

I had recently reviewed a negative review on the restaurant and my wife and I were delighted to find that the food and service(Jena) was excellent. My wife started with the salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. I had the country pate which was good but a little frozen. We both ate the beef Moroccan tagine which comprised lean beef pieces with an outstanding sauce flavoured with apricots and raisins. The inverted apple pie which has received other good reviews lived up to it's reputation. Caramelized apples with tasty pasty and served with cinnamon ice cream. Mmmmmm. Overall a great meal for a Travelzoo promotion and Jena's service was exceptional.

We met another couple here for dinner tonight. We all took advantage of the last night of Toronto's Summerlicious menus; which offered a 3 course meal for $28.The Midi salads were lovely with walnuts, Asiago cheese, pancetta and a pesto base dressing. The cares salad was very good as well. My husband and I both had the 8 oz veal chop accompanied with root vegetables and mashed potatoes. The presentation was beautiful, the taste shear perfection. Our friends had the duck confit and osso bucco and raved about them.Desserts were creme brule, peach Melba and profiteroles. As we ate them, all you could hear was yum!

Made a reservation here for Summerlicious lunch and was a little disappointed. I had the caprese salad which had next to no cheese, and my boyfriend's tomato soup tasted like pasta sauce in a bowl. I had the mussels in tomato/garlic sauce as my entree and the portion was large and I did enjoy it, though I wish there was more flavour. My boyfriend enjoyed his seafood risotto. We both got yummy sorbet as dessert. Service was okay, though it could have been faster. Don't plan to return but it was a relatively good experience. Réservez une table maintenant

Midi Bistro used to be one of my favourite French style bistros, located not too far from the Art Gallery of Ontario. I dined there last week and discovered they had raised their Prix Fix Menu by $10 to $45 for three courses. There are still better places in Toronto for $35 . The portion sizes are large but I'd say the quality of the cooking is just "good". Service is fine; bread not what you'd expect in a French bistro. My husband had Duck Confit and it was more like roast duck. I wouldn't return.

The restaurant is bigger than it seems and the staff are very friendly. They had a pre-fix 3 course special for $45/person which included all items on the menu to choose from. Not sure if that's a regular option, but well worth it if it's available. Portions are hugh so bring your appetite. Food was amazing and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy an evening out without all the noise that larger restaurants tend to get.

Summerlicious menu was varied and excellent price for lunch. Pate was tasty...Midi Salad was very good. Main course Duck was delicious and tender. Dessert...creme brulee was delectable. Service was good although we had to wait 20 mins for our reserved table. The place is a bit cramped, but if you know that ahead of time you'll have no surprises. Staff accommodated our special dietary requests which was greatly appreciated. Worthy of a repeat for sure

Good French food in the heart of downtown, their sauces and reductions are fantastic. Not a fan of the soups, but meat selection and desserts were really good.
