My personal favorite curry spot in the area. Food: 8/10 It used to be around a 9 as it was my favorite spot to get curry in the local area. The curry was always very rich and creamy, with a very deep flavor that most other curry spots could not capture. However, in recent years, I feel that the portions have gotten smaller(? and that the curry isn't quite the same. Flavor is still good but not as great as it once was, and the curry has come out not hot enough the past few times I've been. The Hamburg steak was also massively decreased in size. They still have the best salad dressing around though! Service: 6/10 Service is always just ok. The people are nice, but they're usually always busy a...

It was prob one of the better Katsu pork's I've had in my life. Extremely juicy and they gave a very unique corn pottage soup to go with my katsu sauce. It even came with a little mortar and pestle to grind the sesame seeds up. To be clear I want to state that my favorite food is Japanese curry and when I heard there was a possibility to replace the old curry house I drove all the way here just to try it out. Unfortunately to my huge disappointment, because of my peanut allergy I could not eat it. They make every single curry dish with peanuts. This is unheard of to me, here and in Japan I haven't encountered peanuts in curry before and it was extremely displeasing to not have any non peanut...
3 years later, I knew it was good but I'm impressed by the portion size on multiple dishes it looks like. Curry flavor was rich and complex, authentic. I was very full, ordered a vegetable croquette and it was shockingly good I like tempura so I got this. CRISPY on the outside, done in a way that surprised me on how good it was. Two pieces sauce. Long wait at night but it's worth it. We had a large group that required 2 tables to be put together. I was told the pasta is great! (It was one of the Udons with eggplant) Really look forward to eating here again, food is above a 9/10. Wait isn't good but you should know and can plan around that using google or whatever else you use to gauge how bu...
Came on a Wednesday around 8 and it was not busy at all so we were seated right away. I got got the curry (regular spice) with a side of the tonkatau loin with mushrooms. At first glance I thought the loin portions were pretty small but mixed with the curry it fills you up pretty fast. The loin had the perfect texture to it and was amazing. The curry was very rich and flavorful. It is a little more expensive compared to other Japanese curry spots especially since you have to pay to have sides but it was still great! We also did order takoyaki but they never brought it out.The place is located in a big plaza so there is tons of parking and also great spots to go for dessert right after! Loveeee this place! It's an authentic Japanese family owned restaurant. Just be wary of the hours of operation because they have certain a hours when they close. I highly recommend any of their udons such as the mentai seafood udon. I believe some of the dishes come with either a small soup (corn soup? or salad. This is a small business and there's usually 1-3 staff max so it might be slow and it's best to be patient. Also they always play the same Studio Ghibli films like Ponyo on repeat with no subtitles and audio. The interior is quite small and there's also outdoor seating. Overall I recommend coming at least once!
I've been here a few times and have also tried several other katsu spots, like Wako in LA and Yoko in Buena Park. I'm always on the lookout for more places. However, out of all the places I've tried, this one ranks at the top for katsu! No other place comes close when it comes to pure katsu. Their katsu features the most tender, juicy, and flavorful meat I've ever had. The restaurant itself is just okay; seating can be a bit cramped, and the service is decent. But honestly, you have to come here for the katsu. It’s undoubtedly the best in Southern California! Plus, there's plenty of parking available at Diamond Plaza!
I have dined at their Sawtelle location before and enjoyed both the food and service. This was my first time at this location, and I wasn't disappointed. My friend and I were warmly greeted and seated quickly. Our meals were well-prepared and served hot. The Tonkatsu was incredibly crispy and stayed that way till the last bite. Our entrees came with Miso Soup, Cabbage Salad, Potato Salad, and Rice. I chose the Pork Loin Tonkatsu while my friend opted for the Shrimp and Pork Tonkatsu Combo. We were both very pleased with our choices. The service was excellent and attentive. I won't hesitate to come here again.
Authentic japanese food. The spicy curry has a side of pickled ginger and can be topped with your choice of protein. I tried both the chicken katsu and pork loin and both were juicy and breaded perfectly with every crunchy bite. It also comes with a side salad and your choice of miso soup or corn soup, both delicious. The kushikatsu was bigger than expected; crunchy, juicy, and flavorful with a tonkatsu sauce on the side. Solid service, gender neutral restrooms, and ambiance can get noisy when it's packed inside. Parking is spacious but can fill up during peak hours. Réservez une table maintenant
I absolutely love coming here! I finally got the chance to try their omrice, and I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious curry rice inside (which is similar to fried rice). They also included a corn soup and salad with the meal, and both were fantastic. Even though this was a delivery order, the quality was still exceptional. I highly recommend trying their pork katsu sandwich too—it's incredibly tasty!
