Was visiting Alfred Hospital when we spotted this venue. We walked in to find blank faced staff who had the facial expressions of a brick wall. Looked at the very limited menu and decided to just have drinks, menu didn't offer Chardonnay, so I looked for Green Tea, also wasn't on menu, I asked just to make sure, was promptly told that no we probably would have that. What I received what NOT green tea! Maybe Jasmine or something, but not that I could tell as the herbs were in a teapot that didn't strain properly anyway. Hubby had coffee, the whole 2 mouthfuls of it.I paid and the waiter couldn't even make eye contact or speak. I honestly thought his cat just died... very bizarre experience ov...
Came here on a gloomy Saturday to have brunch with the family - a group of 5 with three kids (2 babies)... We were greet warmly and given the big table. I had the mushroom benedict and a beetroot juice. It's very delicious albeit it's a bit pricey... if I remembered correctly it was about $17.50 for the mushroom benedict and $8.00 for the beetroot juice.Overall I think it's worth a visit if you are around the area. We didn't need to wait for a table.
Mister Zen has been operational about one year and continually gives very good service, great coffee and food. Simple decor and menu make for a good experience and the staff, Ben, Sam and others are super friendly and hospitable. As a morning coffee house it is hard to beat, but they also do lunch. A lot of Alfred Hospital staff use Mister Zen as their local with good reason. Worth stopping by for a great coffee!
Mister zen adopts a very zen approach to both ordering and serving food. Don't expect anything in this life time. Attempts to eat here today were wildly unsuccessful. Waited a full hour before being informed that the 2 salads my daughter and I ordered would be another 10 minutes, due to a computer error. Kept in the dark about our food till we complained. Should be renamed Missing Zen. Look somewhere else.

Visited this cafe once again !Great service & top quality food, newspaper & magazines available , Staff extremely pleasant , coffee & good presentation were excellent caught up with associate here , privacy was ensured , a great place to take time out & enjoy !Many thanks , keep up the great work!Cheers peter
Can't recommend trying this cafe enough. Seems like a bit of an undiscovered secret. Coffee is among the best, food delicious and friendly quick service. Perfect place for a catch up with friends, easy family gatherings. We'll be telling others and will be back soon. Thanks.
We visited Mister Zen today for some lunch. Extremely friendly service right from start to finish. Delicious all day breakfast and lunch menu. Served quickly, and with a smile. Really enjoyed my chicken salad and all the different flavours. Highly recommend it!
I used to have regular lunches at Mr.Zen since it openec in 2015. Recently new owner changed the whole team. Service is very slow, poacbed eggs are hard boiled and bread not toasted but burnt. I doubt I will be back.
