I went to buy pastries after church yesterday to take to my son's house for dessert following Sunday dinner. With our coffee, everyone tried a selection from the assortment, and we all noticed that the quality of Modern Pastry has declined compared to what we remember. I bought ten pieces of Italian pastry: four ricotta cannoli, two sfogliatella, two paragina, and two eclairs. The cannoli shells were stale and had an unpleasant odor, reminiscent of a musty room or a damp basement—almost moldy, but not quite. Additionally, the size of the cannoli was quite small given the price. The boiled cream in the paragina also tasted slightly off; perhaps they used imitation vanilla. It lacked the authe...
I give them 2 stars as their cakes taste good. However, their business practices are hideous. I ordered a cake, and asked for strawberries as garnish. I pre-ordered more than a month in advance. On pick-up day, they tell me I need to pay them $20 cash for it. I thought it meant at least a dozen, but it turns out it was 7 strawberries cut up. I asked, if 7 strawberries as garnish cost $20, and the girl at the register said “it is already written, so I have to charge it”. I thought it was funny, as she was pointing to a handwritten note, and then took my cash without providing receipt. Never coming back there
The gluten free connoli are amazing and totally worth the trip. They are smaller and $3 more expensive than the regular ones. It always surprises me when the inferior (I 'd much rather eat the regular ones if I could! product is more expensive. I hope it 's because they are somehow more difficult to make and not because people who can 't eat a regular one are willing to pay the price.
I have always gone into the North End for both pastry and cakes. I went here and found that I will continue to shop here that all there products are fresh and delicious. I have got over a dozen cakes and received nothing but praise. I will recommendModern Pastry to my family and friends.

God, this place is excellent. I had the Bacio, Limoncello and chocolate mousse cake. All cakes. Some of the best Dessert ive had. Also hat tip on the staff for good music taste. It's 2022. Stop lying. Its extremely uncomfortable and its not like your stuff is cheap.
I absolutely love their pastries, especially the lobster tail. Everything is fresh and delicious. It's definitely worth the trip! I come from the South Shore and pass by many well-known places, but I always make the journey when I'm craving outstanding pastries.
Very disappointed! Went in today to get a zeppole for my mother and her friend and they were old and falling apart. Basically inedible! Not sure if it's just the Medford store but will NEVER be back!

Last night I got a parigina cake for 50 people for an anniversary and everyone was asking me where I got from. It was so good. Modern pastry in Medford is the best.
Excellent cannoli, cupcake, and everything else. But one sad thing is they only accept cash.
