I have reviewed this restaurant in the past and rated it our favourite Thai experience in Brisbane. We have been several times since and took some friends there recently, but we're sad to say that the food and service has slipped a bit. For a Tuesday night it wasn't very busy, but the service was slow and my meal didn't stay hot for very long and was quite salty. I selected it because it is my favourite on the menu, so I do know how it should taste, which did suggest to me that maybe there was a new chef, or hopefully could be just a once-off mistake. The ambience was as modern as the name of the restaurant, and surprisingly the waitresses were professional. Normally there were only Thai staff worked in Thai restaurants, but a couple of staff were from different nationalities and spoke fluent English. The service was great. At the first glance on the menu, food seemed a little pricey compared with other Thais in the same area. When our food were served, the huge portions made their prices reasonable. Our chef's special chicken mince and Thai eggplants stir fry with curry paste tasted so authentic, stir fry cashew nut was full of favours, and Pad Thai was way better than most of Thai restaurants where sweet taste was overwhelming! Eventually arranged to have a dinner last night at this award-winning Thai restaurant. Dining area is surprisingly large with modernised décor and cosy vibe. Wait staff are all very friendly with sweet smile during service. Ordered the Thai Spring Roll, Tom Yum Goong, House Special of Choo Chee Coral Trout and Red Curry Duck with Lychee to go with coconut rice. Love the crispy feeling of the Spring Rolls but the Tom Yum was average only. Coral Trout gained back more marks with crispy batted in very nice fragrant curry flavour. Modern Thai is the nicest Thai I have had. A little bit pricey however the setting of the restaurant is very upper class and fancy which is quite nice. All the food tastes of a high quality and is always delicious. The wait staff are very prompt and professional with their service. Will always come back. Réservez une table maintenant

The Thai food here is okay. I'm not a big fan of Thai cuisine, particularly their curries. I do enjoy a good tom yum or a pad thai or a zingy stir fry with coconut rice. This place is respectable, but doesn't have that extra zing of hot tangy sourness that I enjoy with Thai food.

I recently had my 60th birthday celebrations at the Modern Thai Restaurant. We had 28 of us there and I had many comments about the great food and service. This made my night feel even better. Thanks to John and his staff @ The Modern Thai. Darryl Taggart

Really lovely vibe, amazing service!! We ordered a few wines, an entree each and a main and it was all very delicious and reasonably priced! PS vegan options available! The staff were very accommodating! Highly recommend :)

In spite of the restaurant being quite busy (almost every table full), our drinks & food were brought out relatively quickly. Yellow chicken curry was very yummy. Réservez une table maintenant
