I came here with my actual mom to try out mom can cook. There was no mom in sight that cooked our food. It was a man that cooked our food. The reason we came to eat here was because we won a gift certificate that had $25 on it. After using it, the actual price exceeded this $25. We spent additional money maybe another 25$ or so for two dishes. So each dish was about $20ish which to me is way overpriced especially given that I had much better Thai food. We did order calamari and it was an additional $4 because it was seafood and same with the shrimp. The markup after covid is criminal. However, we needed to get rid of this gift certificate as it had an expiration date. The service felt rushed...
This is hands down my favorite Thai place in scv. They don't add too much sauce and everything is seasoned perfectly. You can adjust the spiciness to pretty much every meal and the atmosphere inside is amazing. I keep digging in too quickly and forgetting to take pictures. The service every time I visited always left a smile on my face and they know how to season and fry tofu well for anyone who doesn't eat meat. I had it to go for Christmas and everything was packaged well and still warm. Just a side note, the spicy level here is very serious. It 's really a shame. When I first started coming to this hole in the wall Thai restaurant in the back of a decrepit strip mall, I was astounded by the flavorful food they served. Mom was still cooking and her son was the host. Everything about this place reeked of charm and the food backed up the wonderful ambiance. Sadly, this is no longer the case. As Mom Can Cook has grown in popularity, they expanded the size of the restaurant, and now cater to a much larger clientele. Surprisingly good Thai food in Santa Clarita. Didn't know that existed to be honest. Found this place after searching on Yelp. This small place does well. Went there tonight around 6:15 was seated immediately, no wait. The table was wiped promptly before sitting down and we were asked what we wanted to drink almost right away. They have wide selection of beers, wines and saki. Our drinks were brought to us very quickly and we ordered. We didn't have to wait long before our soup came out. Excellent Thai food. I love the nice, cozy seating and incredible artwork that depicts Thai culture well. The staff are super friendly, they speak in their native tounges hope that are not talking about me LOL . Our food has delicious flavors, and my Thai iced tea was a star. The eggrolls were tiny but full of veggie flavor and paired well with the dipping sauce. We ordered some fried rice and curry, both of which were fire. I told the host to bump up my spice lever to the max, and he said ok as he laughed and walked away. i was expecting the curry to be super spicy, but it was pretty mild. On a scale of 1-10, the spice level was around 5ish, it warmed me up on the cold, wet November night.
Always a great experience at MCC! The service is friendly and always greets us when we enter and there is plenty of seating for large and small groups. We started with the fried dumplings and they were very fresh and tasty. The pad Thai and Panang curry is my go to and they never disappoint. This place is my favorite Thai spot in canyon country and you can always count on great flavors and service. The prices are around $12-$18 for a great portion size. Definitely give this place a try and thank me later.
I have been a regular here since I was a kid! Mom Can Cook is always so reliable and always helps to fix my Thai food cravings. Service is so friendly and they are always consistent with portions, flavor, and the overall experience regardless of if you get takeout or dine in. Seating area is pretty ample but probably more suited for groups of 2-4 as they have smaller tables inside. The pad Thai was delicious and the panang curry was super good too. Definitely will and have come back again and again!
I've tried this place 3x. In my humble opinion, the ratings are overhyped. It's good, but not memorable. However I'm willing to try again.
