When someone behind the counter says their fish comes from the company one should have the common sense to just turn around and walk out. When dog and I walked in to Monica 's Plaice, I asked the person behind the counter from where the fish comes. His response was the company ! When I clarified that I meant an ocean or a river he still insisted it was the company Stupidly I then ordered a medium fish and chips then was told to wait outside with my well behaved, on a short leash, dog. I thought dogs were allowed in restaurants in the UK. I 'm not sure if the people who have given this place a 4-star rating actually went to the same Monica 's Plaice in Lechlade I went to. After a wet and rainy drive, we arrived in Lechlade feeling a bit hungry. My wife spotted that Monica's was open and suggested we have fish and chips. We seated ourselves inside and placed our order, which arrived promptly. The portions were generous, and the kids' fish and chips were just right for our 6-year-old, while the sausage and chips were perfect for our 2-year-old. I opted for haddock and chips with curry sauce, while my wife had cod and chips with mushy peas. Everything was delicious and flavorful. We will definitely return next time we are in the area - a lovely little fish bar with very friendly staff.
We have eaten at this fish and chip shop before and it has always been nice but not for a while, so me and a friend thought we would try it again and we were not disappointed!! The staff were pleasant and smily and the seating area is cool in temperature (very welcome on a hot day! and was very clean and the fish and chips were delightful, lovely white cod and light crisp batter and the chips were really nice too! I also think they are priced well, as a lot of the other eateries in Lechlade are a bit pretentious and overpriced for my taste!! Thank you guys and we will will be back!
We were just passing through Lechlade and looking for a takeaway lunch and saw Monica’s Plaice on the High Street. We ordered the fish and chips and were delighted to see they were freshly cooked to order. The quality was excellent, the price was on par for The Cotswolds and the service was efficient. They also have a restaurant if you want to sit in it closes at 1.30pm at lunchtime and the takeaway closes at 2pm. It is well worth the visit! Réservez une table maintenant
I have visited this restaurant before and was very pleased. Went again today with my family of 12. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and helpful. They accommodated all of us without any hesitation, and I cannot fault anything. Despite the 40-mile trip, we will definitely return. We all enjoyed well-cooked dishes in perfect portion sizes for just under £55. Thank you for accommodating us all.
