Wow the staff made us wait a lot today. Waited a while for water that all tables got on arrival, then a while for our order to be taken. The drinks took so long the table who arrived some time after us got their drinks first so we had to ask where ours were. Took another long while for the food, which was underwhelming. We had the Scottish Beef Burger. It was very dry. We were offered sauces and I said yes, but they only brought us a tiny amount, enough for one of us only even though we both had the burger. The fries came salted tough if you don't like or can't eat salt. The rolls for the burgers were also dry, so in combo with the dry burgers, not a great experience. Only two toilet cubicle...
Update: If it 's not an issue with the food, it 'll be because of the drinks -which are coming frequent. Staff are lovely, it 's just for the price we expect much better drinks and food. We 've visited quite a few times and there 's always an issue or disappointment with meals. Drinks however are good and as mentioned, the staff are lovely, friendly and very helpful when something goes wrong. The atmosphere is great and we end up going for drinks now and then. Although it has a great atmosphere, it 's close to style over substance . Again, staff make a big positive impact
It’s been several weeks since we have eaten out at Montpeliers Bruntsfield but were tempted in during an evening walk. The welcoming vibe and the Dine Out in spring offer helped convince us to get a table for food. We hadn’t booked but as it was early evening there were still some walk in tables available. We started with one Sweet Potato Ginger soup along with a portion of Pulled Pork Tacos, this was then followed by two Steak Frites. All good although steak was a bit dry. We finished off with one Chocolate Brownie and a Banoffee Pie all washed down with a bottle of Villa Real. All in all a good meal out for £77.22 including tip.
We only went in for drinks with a friend who lives close by. Joolz (the gaffa) was lovely as we're the rest of the staff. It was popular on both our visits. It has a good selection of beers and spirits (Brooklyn lager £6ish).

Lovely local spot for food or drinks . Bit noisy when busy as the tables are close together. Nice 15 dinner menu although my friend’s portion of risotto was small and lacking the oils promised.
Really great place to have dinner in Edinburgh, casual with delicious food. When they are busy, it might take longer to bring out your food, so be wary of it. I do recommend the Scottish eggs!
Great place to catchup with friends. Get very crowded so I recommend you book a spot earlier. Food was great, and I appreciate the list of non alcoholic drinks!
Nice bar with great selection of cocktails! Music volume could be a bit lower but after a few drinks you don't mind! Service was ok! Food was nothing special!

not tasty at all, duck as the main dish it’s not duck it’s pasta with some duck leftovers. Nothing even close to French cuisine.
