My wife and myself had a long weekend in Plymouth, staying very close to the Barbican. We noticed Montys the first day but decided it looked small and very busy so didn 't bother The second day we decided to give it a go. and queued for about 10 minutes before being shown to a table. (Whilst waiting I noticed quite a few reserved table boards, marked up and ready for use. . Ordered full English x2, with tea. The portion size was spot on but the quality and presentation was exceptional and very reasonable priced (Only about £1,50pp MORE than what I would have paid at the budget hotel on the Quay I asked, is it worth booking for breakfast which we did. If you are in Plymouth and enjoy a cooked breakfast as much as I do, then you should definitely visit Monty's on the Barbican (across from the Pavers Shoes building). The cooked breakfast I had there was one of the best I've had in a while. It was freshly prepared with high-quality ingredients, including perfectly cooked bacon, sausage, poached egg, mushrooms, and grilled tomato. The coffee was also excellent. The staff were attentive and accommodating, happily making changes to my order as requested.Overall, a great dining experience at Monty's.
Visited for lunch whilst it took a while for my order to be taken the food arrived quickly chasing the biggest best bubble squeak I've had in years served with 2 lovely fried eggs perfectly cooked bacon all washed down with a mug of breakfast tea. Really good value for money aswell. The staff are very polite friendly to. I would advise booking a table as it was very busy with locals tourists and a wait of 15 minutes for tables when I was ready to leave. Thanks for a nice meal, your menu is lovely with a huge choice.
We visited the N.M.A in Plymouth for my Grandson’s 1st Birthday and walked across to The Barbican to find somewhere for lunch, we came upon Montys and I have to say it was excellent, the food was hot and fresh, the staff were great and kindly set up a high chair for the little one, all in all it was a great choice and I would happily go again and recommend it highly.

Came across Monty’s while strolling with a friend through The Barbican looking for somewhere to eat lunch.. what a find! Lovely friendly welcome, great service and wonderful food we both had the fish and chips which were freshly cooked, hot and tasty.. we’ll be back soon.
Whilst it would seem breakfast stops at 11.30 on the Barbican , not the case at Montys ! A wonderful selection from the menu of food and hot drinks , service was good , standard of food excellent and overall very reasonable as well. Hope to be back again soon thanks .
Absolutely first rate, friendly attentive staff, excellent choice of food, great atmosphere and wonderful coffee. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were extremely hardworking and all five different choices of food were very well received.
My wife and I went there for lunch with our dog. We were made to feel welcome. We ordered bubble and squeak with fried eggs and bacon, and they were great. It was very well priced, and we would go back.

Lovely food and really friendly place. The prawn and avocado salad was delicious. The Baileys latte is a must too! The staff were friendly and pleasant. Would definitely recommend and would go back.
Lovely place for breakfast in a great location. Friendly, clean food (full English eggs Benedict) was perfect.
