Located in the heart of Belfast, The Morning Star is a great find. On our first visit, we stopped by for a drink and a light lunch and were met with extremely friendly and welcoming staff. The food options were plentiful, and although there were just two of us, we opted for starters which were delicious and generously portioned. Impressed by our experience, we returned on our last day for lunch. This time, all three of us went for the buffet which was priced at an incredibly reasonable £6.95. My husband and I visited this historic pub in the Centre on two occasions during our stay. We first stopped in for a drink one evening and returned the next day for a meal before heading home. The pub, which dates back to 1810, has a traditional Irish tavern feel with its original mahogany counter and old terrazzo floor. Although there is an upstairs area, we chose to sit downstairs both times. The pub seemed to be popular among locals, but we were warmly welcomed. The Guinness was excellent. During our second visit, we were impressed by the attention to detail on the a la carte menu. However, we opted for a hot buffet plate deal for just £6.95. Placed food order, mains only and waited 45 minutes for the meal to arrive, food temperature warm not hot enough. Ordered slow cooked beef expecting beef that would fall apart and got silverside like you would get for a Sunday roast. Roast potato clearly reheated, yorkshire pudding was dried out, and some of the meat i couldn't get a knife through. So many great places in Belfast to eat, but this is not one of them, a couple of tables had tourists I hope they don't take away memories of Belfast having terrible restaurants.
I've been to the morning star for years, always enjoyed it , amazing steaks,and always tipped the staff but now apparently since the start of the year there is a 10% service charge put onto your bill,, BAD BAD MOVE GUYS ! I won't be back, it's not the charge,it's the principle of it, in fact my service charge was £8.00, I usually tip about £20 so it was a loss to the staff tonight. Very bad business and I'm very disappointed

We had an excellent lunch on Saturday. The burgers were amazing and the chips were excellent. The roast beef dinner was also a big hit. All three of us loved it. The restaurant is a hidden gem, with a refurbished upstairs area that should be much busier. I expect it will be once word gets around. The waitress was also very lovely.
One of the great bars of Belfast. Very friendly staff with great knowledge about local beers/produce. Went here for the opening of their updated upstairs restaurant and have to say it was lovely. Had the charcuterie board and then Pork Belly-both great. Perfect Guinness as well. Highly recommend it for food and to watch rugby!
First visit here while in Belfast, and it was definitely worth a visit. The service was really good and the portions were pretty good as well, so worth a visit if you are in the area.
Visited for a Sunday dinner for 4, £60 deal, would not recommend at all very small portions, cold plates very dissatisfied and slapped with a 10% service charge. Avoid.

Appalling food! Steak mainly gristle and tough! Meals not as menu. Staff taking decorations down when still open!
