I finally had the chance to visit this beautifully restored property! Mountainside Bakery and Cafe is a wonderful place to visit before or after a hike on Mount Wachusett, or simply because! There are both indoor and outdoor seating options available. Inside, you will find two charming rooms with period-appropriate decor. Outside, you can choose to sit at patio bistro tables, picnic tables, or Adirondack chairs on the spacious lawn. The staff was friendly and offered great recommendations; the pastries were delicious. This lovely little bakery and coffee shop is a must-stop while in town as they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered a maple pecan bundt cake to take with me on my hike to the top of Mount Wolves. It was absolutely delicious and well worth the wait to enjoy it at the summit with a stunning view. I also had the opportunity to try their freshly made sticky rolls and couldn't resist taking one home.

I had a fantastic breakfast with my nephew at this restaurant. I ordered the Windsor breakfast sandwich on jalapeno focaccia, which was delicious. The focaccia was particularly outstanding. I also had a cappuccino with heel milk, which was expertly made by the barista - they managed to foam the heel milk perfectly without burning it.
The restaurant is in a fantastic location. I used to always pass by the old caretaker house, wishing that someone would do something with it. And they did not disappoint. They kept the original plans and wood, but transformed it into a cozy space where you can enjoy a tea or coffee with a delicious sweet or savory treat.
This restaurant serves the best grilled cheese I have had in years, and the cookies are also amazing! It is a great spot for a post-hike lunch or if you are craving something sweet. I have not tried their breakfast yet, but I am looking forward to going back and giving it a try.
