On a rainy Monday in Aldeburgh, mum and I were looking for somewhere to lunch. Originally we had chosen a different venue in the High Street to eat but after being ignored when waiting for a table and then ignored again while waiting to order, that coupled with their prices made us decide to leave and go to Munchies. I should add, no one even noticed us leave! I've eaten at Munchies many times before and, as always, we were met with a smile and a cheery greeting. We were shown to our table within a minute and only waited another five minutes before someone came to take our order. Yesterday, we were faced with a bit of a challenge as we tried to find a place that could accommodate my lovely niece, who has autism and learning difficulties, and was very particular about what she wanted to eat. The team at Munchies went above and beyond to help us out by allowing my niece to eat her own food while we enjoyed our meals from the cafe. We know that this isn't the typical policy and we truly appreciated everyone's kindness. The staff at Munchies were incredibly welcoming, engaging with my niece, and even took the time to show her how the coffee machine works. Went to this place for breakfast, as we have been before and it looks quite nice. I am allergic to egg, so asked for their normal full English off the menu, only to be to told “sorry, we can’t do variations”. I was very surprised, in a lifetime of being allergic to egg I have never been told this before. I said to the girl, all they needed to do was a normal breakfast, but just leave the egg off. But she said sorry, no, they can’t do variations. Surprised, and rather annoyed, my wife and I walked out. A strange and almost bizarre experience. I am highly allergic to egg, and any self respecting cafe should be able to deal with this. We won’t be going back.
Sat oitside in the sun watching the world go by. The cobs/baps were big enough for two people but we'd ordered one each, our fault for not asking. Service could have been quicker but everything is prepared and cooked/baked on the premises. Would liked to have mugs/cups instead of the cardboard (Costa style) paper cups and plastic lids but if Costa/Starbucks can do it then why not Munchies. Visited spur of the moment on Saturday and it did not disapoint! Dispite the town being busy and a few people waiting we were gretted immediately and our order taken, we waited outside in the sunshine and didnt have to waot long till our takeaway breakfast baps were ready. We took these home to eat and they were delicious! We had these before a few years back but we won't be waiting a few years before we visit again! Fresh and good quality produce. We stopped by to grab a picnic to enjoy on the beach in the sunshine today. We opted for the Italian salad box, Greek salad box, and 2 cold drinks. Everything was incredibly fresh, healthy, and generously portioned. There were so many options to choose from that we had trouble deciding. Despite the heat in the kitchen, the staff served us with a cheerful chat and smile. We will definitely be returning every time we are in Aldeburgh.
Fantastic place for lunch, we were greeted by all the staff, and directed to a table for the four of us, by the time we had found Munchies we were all very hungry. Ellie took our order straight away and delivered the most delicious fresh sandwiches and drinks, everyone who works here is friendly, polite and very helpful, Thank you so much Ellie, Ed and all who work in this delightful establishment.
Stopped by Two Magpies cafe for a coffee and cake, but after ten minutes waiting for someone to take our order, we left and instead sat outside Munchies, just down the street in Aldeburgh. How pleased am I that we did. Coffee was superb and the cake, a crumble slice, was delicious. Quick service from delightful people. Highly recommended! Réservez une table maintenant
