My partner took me on saturday evening, it was our first night out alone since having our first baby 18 months ago. So the relaxed atmosphere was perfect for us being that we normally eat at the mercy of our toddler. My partner had the maple pork belly starter, and steak burger main and I had the special bruschetta starter, scampi for main and a chocolate brownie for dessert. It was delicious Absolutely nothing to complain about, it was just what we expected and it was plated nicely too. We were served mainly by a young, dark haired girl who I believe was called Sophie, she was great and very helpful and welcoming. It was a fabulous night. We shall return!
Had a wonderful visit today at this restaurant. The staff gave us a very warm welcome as always. The food we had today was delicious and served piping hot. From the Scotch Egg starter to the pie, it was all perfection. The belly pork starter was particularly yummy. The crispy hot fluffy chips were a welcome change from dry reheated chips at other places. The staff happily accommodated substitutions for us, swapping out garden peas for mushy peas and Stilton cheese for cheddar cheese on the steak baguette. Overall, it was a lovely, cozy, dog-friendly pub.
On the last three bookings I have made which have been early evening the selection from the menu has been limited due to food out odf stock, example duck and chicken. Worse still is that the order is taken only to be informed later that the selection is not avialable. Complained to the manager who recognised there were issues but unable to satisfactorily state why there was limited food available.
Our walking group had our Christmas lunch at this restaurant last weekend. They accommodated all 30 of us perfectly. Our pre-orders were served accurately and they even packed up a meal for one of our members who was sick. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and the service was top-notch. I have dined here several times before and have always been satisfied. They are also welcoming to dogs.

Popped in for a lunch on Saturday 13 Jan. The man at the bar was helpful , friendly and sorted a table out. Could not do enough for us. Ordered the Thai fishcakes as a starter , and then the pie for main. The fishcakes were excellent and tasty. However the star of the show was the Steak pie , amazing , so meaty and tasty. Highly recommended. Smart pub , staff brilliant , well worth a visit.
Dining area poor, seating is very worn condition and uncomfortable. Food again poorly presented, just dolloped on plate. Considering we pre booked table we ended up with worst table possible. We know there are better tables available and walk in guests seemed to take precedence over pre booked. The first time we came here, excellent service and food. Will we be back NO.
The food was just okay, but it looked plain on the plate - just a burger and fries with no salad or coleslaw. The ripped seating in the dining area also didn't give off a good impression. It's a shame because I used to love coming to this pub, but it seems to have lost some of its charm since the change in ownership.
Nice pub loveley staff but very poor food mixed grill was extremely salty and overcooked definately overpriced I've had better in wotherspoons to be totally honest won't be returning

Very nice food, lovely mixed grill. We also had a prawn Marie rose sandwich which was lovely. The service was good and friendly staff
