The number of eateries inside of Markham's Peachtree Plaza is mind boggling! Hong Kong style cafes alone must have occupied at least a handful of units in and outside of the plaza?!After by-passing my usual go-to place 'Blue Ocean' and tried out a surprisingly good ' Ming's' next door last week. My posting of the latter attracted a few thumbs up comments from foodies pertaining to 'another' Hong Kong style cafe - 'New City' nearby! We have been searching for HK style restaurant in Markham and Richmond Hill area.We would say New City Restaurant is the best among all other HK style restaurants in town. They are not awesome, rather... acceptable to very good. Owner and servers are very friendly and efficient. There is always line up, however you will usually get a table within 5 mins. We tried their breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, and we like them all. This is our first choice HK style restaurant in town.
New City Restaurant has been a really popular restaurant in the neighbourhood for cheap, tasty and fast Hong Kong Cafe Style fast food.<br/ <br/ The restaurant always packed and the tables are so closely placed together and it is often as a lone diner, I ended up having to share tables with ohers.<br/ <br/ Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner set.<br/ <br/ Milk tea always well made. Smooth and strong.<br/ <br/ Cash only and of course I will be back!
After conducting a quick search on the restaurants within close proximity of my physio place (also read as: reading numerous reviews on), it was decided that we would try out New City Restaurant for lunch. Many yelp users had had mixed feelings about the atmosphere and food, but two common points present in their reviews were that the servers were always friendly and that meals were considerably budget-friendly.

My go-to dish here is the baked pork chop with tomato sauce on rice. It comes with a hot drink (you can switch to a cold drink for an extra charge) and a choice of soup (cream soup or Russian style borsch). This restaurant has become my favorite spot for Hong Kong Cafe style food.
One of our favorite comfort food places. I can never go wrong with the baked dishes. pork in cream sauce over fried rice is my fav and satay beef macaroni in broth is one of Jasper's goto dishes. you get a lot for the cost and haven't found a dish i haven't liked yet
This is just another one of my go-to cafes in the area. New City has very fast service and good food for the price you are paying. I always love what I order (I don't think I've had a bad experience here). Visit if you're looking for a quick lunch afternoon snack!
I really appreciate the affordability and delicious taste of all-day breakfasts at Hong Kong style cafes. I ordered Combo C for just $6.50, which included Bread with Butter, Beef Brisket Rice Noodle in Soup, and Bacon Scrambled Eggs. It was a great deal!

Regular visits!. My favorite afternoon-tea place. Been coming here for 15 years now, never complained about the food.
My favorite thing about the chicken is its fantastic taste and texture, and it is always cooked perfectly.
