The dining room is spacious, and the restaurant is run by a lovely husband and wife team. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a place outside of the city, as this style of Chinese food is becoming increasingly rare. There’s a particular demographic of Chinese Canadians who migrated to Canada before 1990 (think the 70s and 80s, maybe even the 60s), and they brought with them this unique style of cooking that you hardly find in Vancouver anymore. It’s wonderful that Cumberland has this restaurant, and they continue to serve food in the same way. I especially want to highlight their egg rolls—they're the traditional kind, crispy and delicious. You just don’t find them made like this in Va...
I visited New Creek Restaurant for the first time during my trip to Cumberland, and I was very pleased with our classic Cantonese dinner. The egg rolls were crispy and full of flavor, and the ginger beef had the perfect amount of spicy ginger taste. Even the fortune cookies were excellent! I will definitely return.
I simply wanted to have dinner for two and requested a substitution of sweet and sour pork in place of ginger beef. I was told it couldn't be done, which is really disappointing. You've lost my business with this policy. What about those who don't eat pork or can't eat it for various reasons?
