I always loved Newport Creamery , never a bad experience. I 've always had pleasant waitresses until I had the rather tall and large waitress serve my grandson and I for breakfast. She was very unpleasant to us. My grandson who 's five is a charmer and even his smiles didn 't help with her sour face. He asked for the Cookie Monster cookie to be put on the side rather than on top of the ice cream. He was taking the cookie home for his brother. That waitress said in a stern face she didn 't know if she could do that. She makes the kiddie Cookie Monster sundae, of course she could do it. My coffee was very old and I asked for a fresh cup when I finally got her attention) that next cup of coffee...
Will never go back. Went in last week with my kids, stood at the door for about 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were standing there. The waitress forgot to bring out our appetizer so when our dinner arrived, I let her know and did not receive an apology or anything, just said ok and took it off the bill. But the part I am most disturbed by were the FLIES! We had a few flying around the table which we thought was odd but then looked up at the walls, they were covered in gnats. And when I say covered, it looked like just blankets of flies on every wall. We immediately felt so uncomfortable and tried to rush out of there but our waitress was so overwhelmed with other tables, it to...
If you're looking for a family atmosphere, or just something laid back with a nostalgic vibe this is a great place! I'd suggest going on an empty stomach if you want a meal and ice cream because the servings were plentiful. I did spend about $20 a person but keep in mind that we had a meal and dessert. If you have one or the other it would obviously cost less....and sometimes ice cream for dinner hits the spot, I'm just saying. I am on vacation and I can honestly say I have every intention of visiting again before I leave... which is a big deal for me because when I go on vacation I like to try as many different places as possible.... highly recommend!
This visit was just a father and daughter night out for ice cream. The place was maybe a third occupied and we sat down at a table to enjoy a sundae. I ended up with a banana split which was a dripping a trail to the table. That use the smallest vessel to make the banana split and it couldn't contain all the toppings. The assistant manager was super pleasant and it was refreshing getting great service especially seeing everywhere is struggling with staffing issues. I like that they have the larger size awful awful. Hubs got choconutter and I got my old faithful, Chocolate with jimmie's!
