I agree that this is hard to find but worth the effort. If it was closer to my home it could easily become a favourite and I'm someone that loves Indian food. It was suggested for a colleague's retirement dinner, as a small party we were the only ones dining in, but there was a regular stream of take aways heading out the door. Disappointed that it wasn't licenced but thankfully was able to contact a late arrival who picked up beers and wine on his way. I ate here last Friday night. We had the more expensive of the two banquets. It was a very good choice. The food was flavoursome and the servings were generous. The meals included a goat dish. This was a challenge for the girls but it was really delicious, if a bit boney.The service was good overall. One funny thing happened. Not long after they had delivered entrees the waiter brought another dish of pakoras. A little while later the came and took them away. He said they were for another table. My husband and I enjoyed the best India cuisine that we have had in years. Although the decor is minimalist the aromas that treated us on arrival were mouth watering and the food a triumph! Great service and the Chef/owner could not have been more accommodating or enthusiastic. Our only regret was forgetting to take away our "doggy bag". For the uninitiated we learned that NH8 is the main highway from Delhi to Mumbai and the restaurant NH8 embraces the food of these regions. We look forward to returning with friends..
This place does a great curry - the best we've had in Canberra. Great homemade starters - especially the onion bhajis and curry puffs. Lovely lamb Rohan josh and chicken tandoori. It is a friendly and warm place with attentive and kind staff - a great find Northside. A gentle hint - cleaner toilets would be nice!

So every Indian has Butter chicken on the menu, but NH8 claims to be the "best in Canberra."Whilst the setting and furnishings is pretty basic the ex-Hyatt Hotel chefs have certainly hit mark with the menu. Not sure if the butter chicken is the "best in Canberra" but it is pretty dame good!
Was really looking forward to Indian but was Really disappointed , from non engaging staff to over cooked pappadums . Entree very water and no taste . Chicken main was fatty and couldn't eat it etc etc . First time ever I have not asked for a doggy bag . Won't be back . Sorry .
We have had takeaway a few times, ordering online. Each time food is delivered hot, and exactly as ordered. The naan breads are great as are the curries. Plenty of meat in the curries while so many restaurants are stingy with it. Great flavours in every dish and good value too.
My Partner and I dined here on a Friday night, the restaurant wasn't too busy and the food was served quite quickly. The staff working were extremely friendly and very helpful. Would go back recommend, the food was devine

we have had takeaway from NH8 a few times now and the food is great, They do meal deals and are very friendly when you call to place an order. turnaround time is great and serving sizes are good, Give them a try !
We have heard good reviews about NH8 from friends. Never fail to disappoint- tasty curries, lassi and naans. Good takeaways too. I would recommend this to anyone craving for Indian food.
