My husband and I visited Windsor and while we were walking on Erie St. where most of the Italian restaurants are located we decided to go to NICO. Was not planned. It was 5:00 pm. Eric, who runs the front of the house was our waiter. What a delightful and personable person.I ordered an Old Fashioned...was tasty. We did not order an appetizer because we know we'd be ordering pasta.Eric brought sliced Italian bread with olive oil drizzled on it and more on the plate with spices to dip in. Yummy!I ordered a seafood dish...mussels, calamari, fish, shrimp with Risotto in a red sauce. My husband ordered the same only with spaghettini. Very large portion. The dish came with arugula on top. It was delicious! For dessert we had the ice cream...no room in our tummies for anything heavy. We would definitely go back and we will! Parking can be a challenge on Erie St., but there is a paid lot behind the buildings that takes a credit card. If you are from the US, don't forget your Canadian quarters for the meters (until 6:00 pm) directly on Erie).I have posted a couple photos.Oh...specials change often.

We visited on Canada Day and were glad they took reservations. Our table was ready and waiting when we arrived. I had the pasta Alla Nonna, which is ravioli with meatballs and sausage. The meatballs were superb, the sausage very good. The ravioli was very good and there was plenty of it. I would have preferred fewer raviolis with more cheese in them, they were pretty thin. My wife had the Veal Scallpene and thought the veal was a little tough and the sauce a little heavy. I tasted it and liked it, maybe the veal was a little chewy, but I thought it was pretty good. I'll make a comment I rarely make, that the kitchen was a little too quick sending out the meal. Most of the time, it's the other way around, with food coming out slowly so I can't really complain but it would have been nice to have a little more time. Overall, the service is excellent. This is a family business and it shows, they care. We enjoyed ourselves, it was a good Italian dinner.

So by the traffic alone and preponderance of Italian customers seen there. Must be very good. Two previous times we could not get in and there seemed to be an endless line of cars stopping to pick up take out or drop off folks.

I had the best arancini ever. So good and so flavourful. I also really love their tri fromaggi gnocchi. It is the best...lightest gnocchi I have had. The reason for the 4 stars is that they have decreased the portion sizes.
