Niko is a Mediterranean restaurant operated by a Croatian family. There are many fish dishes or seafood on the menu. But also meat dishes, for example from lamb, turkey or beef. In addition to the menu, seasonal or daily meals are still written on a large board in the entrance area. The restaurant is located on the outskirts of Langenfeld city centre on an access road. From the outside it looks rather inconspicuous and a bit away from the road. Inside you will find a very modern, peppy ambience with dark tables and red decoration. We were led by the restaurant operator to our seats. The menu was surrounded and the candles were lit on the table. However, the study on the menu and the already mentioned table with the additional dishes took some time as we could not decide. Very commendable: When the operator noticed our indecision, he made suggestions and described the dishes more closely. Unfortunately, this advice has become rare in our restaurants, instead of that the service usually disappears immediately with a “I come back when you have decided”. Because of his recommendation, I finally decided to make a fish soup and a lamb back. Before this came, a welcome from the kitchen was made in the form of baguette, herbal butter and an amusegueule. In the fish soup (approx. 5 EUR) there was also a huge clover and matching the seasonal pieces from the green asparagus. The soup tasted wonderful, with a fine curry taste. If something can be criticized, the fish share could have been a little bigger. The Lamb Back (approx. 21 EUR) was a poem he cannot call! Gently tenderly roasted on the piece, detached from the bone before serving and served with it. The lamb back tasted intensely for herbs, especially rosemary, as well as ally sauce. Potato buffers were added, as well as some bars of white asparagus (on recommendation of the operator). The sauce Hollandaise came in an extra saucer, plentiful. My aunt had a fish (cablejau), also with asparagus as a supplement, my wife had a turkey steak with pepper sauce and rice, my children a cordon bleu or a cattle steak. Everyone praised the food, my aunt especially loved the asparagus with the sauce Hollandaise, and my wife especially praised the taste of the paprika sauce. Conclusion: Restaurant Niko offers Mediterranean dishes at a high level. The whole thing at a very good price-performance ratio, as the shares are quite large and the prices move in a pleasant frame. In addition, because the service and advice of the owner is extremely friendly and accommodating (only the female service has learned the smile and does not seem to increase any special enthusiasm for your activity) we can only recommend the restaurant Niko. Another final comment: The restaurant Niko also offers catering services for private parties that my aunt has already used.
