We also got to witness owner and chef George Reis host his wedding rehearsal dinner on the patio. Started the celebration off with a glass of prosecco and a dozen oysters ranging from the Olde Points, Blue Points, and Blackberry varieties. Then moved to the scallops and yellowtail snapper. Last evening our UAB doctoral cohort, our families, and mentors, enjoyed a wonderful graduation celebration dinner in the Glass room. It was an incredible evening of food, fun and fellowship in a lovely setting. The room was well prepared, and the staff were incredibly attentive and meals for all were cooked to our requests, from appetizers through the main course and dessert. A variety of sushi, calamari, oysters, and shrimp was ordered and loved. The main course was wonderful as well (too many to list but the surf and turf was off the charts), and the desserts, especially the carrot cake cheesecake and the pecan pie cobbler were devoured. My wife and I ate here to celebrate her passing the exam for her CHT certification. The beef satay was one of the best appetizers we'd had in years. It would have been a tasty, albeit small, dinner all on its own. Fortunately, I opted for the hereford filet mignon, which to the dismay of many, I usually have cooked well-done and butterflied. The restaurants that are able to pull this off without drying out the steak always remain at the top of my list, and Ocean certainly pulled it off! Our server was also very friendly and helpful, making for a perfect evening to celebrate my wife's accomplishment!
If you're seeking exceptional food and a fantastic ambiance, Oceans is the place to go. They offer a wide range of appetizers, drinks, delicious entrees, and desserts. The oysters are a fantastic starter and are incredibly tasty. The whole red snapper, cooked over their wood fire, is unmatched in Birmingham. Owner George made the rounds to ensure everyone was enjoying their meal, which was greatly appreciated given how busy the restaurant was. The entire staff was attentive and accommodating, with Chris ensuring a memorable dining experience.

We came a few months ago and did not have a reservation, but was able to sit at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and helpful with the menu, as well as patient with us. Everyone at the bar was friendly and the bartender made sure everyone was taken care of and had a lot of laughs. The food was fresh, flavorful, very delicious, and the portions were a good size. I wish they opened for lunch or earlier in the day, but I will return.
Despite having made a reservation, we still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated, which was disappointing. However, everything else about our experience at this restaurant was fantastic. The food was delicious and the server was excellent. I will definitely be returning in the future.
