Altadena is a quaint homey place, just like John's eatery and herb store. Take a look at his art, while youre there. Best advice for herbs from a one-of-a-kind person. As for vegetarian options, this is a vegan restaurant, so everything is vegetarian by default! For those with dietary restrictions, everything on the menu is vegan, making it accessible to everyone, and there are plenty of gluten-free options as well since most of the food is naturally gluten-free and unprocessed.
For parking, I parked across the street at the grocery outlet and simply ran over to grab my meal, but I did notice two available two-hour street parking spots right outside.

I was completely enchanted by this place. After enjoying an amazing, smoky bowl of split pea soup that John, the owner, prepared right in front of me on his gas stove for just $3.75, I decided to pick up some grocery essentials and a few treats. As I shopped, I was impressed by the hand-packed leftovers stored in the wooden-paneled refrigerator, available for a mere $1.75 per portion instead of being wasted. In a time when personal and cozy businesses are rare, Oh Happy Day stands out as a true gem. I feel a deep sense of gratitude and respect for John and the wonderful environment he has created. I know I will be coming back many times.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy your meal. High quality mostly organic vegan food for an incredible price. Great relaxed atmosphere of a small-town grocer. Can't believe places like this still exists in LA County. Definitely a place you must have especially if you're going on one of the hikes at the canyon or Angeles Crest.

My wife shared the story of the places owner and had to go. Had his rice and beans, they were good, but I like rice and beans.Got a few things for the kitchen and glad to meet the man behind the story. I should say the hippy, that's what he called himself.
O Happy Days and its owner, John, are a mainstay in the Altadena community! Additionally, the soup of the day is undoubtedly the most affordable (and delicious) vegetarian lunch choice in LA County!
