"Famous for its views and for being a climbers' bar. The lunch menu was short, but the food was good. The beers were excellent. The giant hearth with fire blazing is a welcome sight when it's wet outside."

We love the ODG, rustic and the perfect stop off during or after a walk. Our initial visit this time didn’t start off well, a dog belonging to a local was prowling the bar looking for food, it was friendly enough however I want to be able to enjoy my crisps in peace. Once it left our visit was far more enjoyable. Fully appreciate that the staff are not responsible for owners dogs, however they can have a ‘polite’ word as I suspect that ‘tourists’ bring in the most income. Will we be back, absolutely, it’s a great place.

What can i say The old dungeon ghyll is my fave pub in the valley. Always made to feel welcome by the staff. Our group of Ratti members booked our(43 persons) AGM meal there. The food was spot on we had pre booked a 3 course meal, coffee mince pies and tablet fudge. Meal was perfect, so was the service and would highly recommend to others. Thanks Guys

I just love this pub as it is a traditional unspoilt Lake District treasure. The service is friendly and helpful and there is a superb selection of perfectly kept real ales, with the emphasis on local breweries. It can get busy but there is a large outside area for the summer. Dogs and walkers are made very welcome and the food looks excellent too!

Warm friendly traditional pub with lovely simple food and nice beer. Love the fire place, and I bet it’s lovely being able to sit outside in the summer. Came in after getting very cold, and preparing for a cold night in the van, and had some lovely food. Dog Friendly
