My friend and I often visit the Old Halfway House as it’s local to us both. Until relatively recently, we have been for the lunchtime menu, and it’s been fairly good. The pub has a nice atmosphere, and it’s clean and tidy. However, the menu has now changed; the lunchtime menu has increased from £6 to £8. Soft drinks have also increased, and a glass of coke is now £4.25, which is simply too much. This last visit, I ordered scampi chips and peas. I could hardly believe my eyes when the server brought my meal. There were 9 small pieces of scampi, a few chips and what I estimated to be 1 spoon of peas. I was really upset about this. The tartar sauce was also underwhelming a tiny bit in the botto...
Booked online but no table available when we arrived so had to sit in the bar area by the front door. I ordered the Grilled chicken and bacon salad and 3 of the ingredients were missing. no avocado no soya beans and no slow roasted tomato. It was basically a bit of bagged salad, one rasher of bacon and half a chicken breast. My husband ordered the bbq burger which was a very thin burger on a small brioche bun. We were still very hungry so ordered the sharing dessert combo which I would have said was really for one person. The food we did have was ok but wouldn’t go back
Another lovely visit, this is the second time in 6 months we have been and yet again it didn’t disappoint. The food was good value for money and the staff very friendly and attentive, a young lady called Lydia served us from start to finish, friendly, happy and extremely helpful, a pleasurable lunch for my wife and I. Recommended.
Lovely atmosphere! great staff all friendly and great service. Food was lovely and very well presented. very good prices with a wide range and variety of options on the drinks and food menu to choose from with options for everyone

Was visiting family in Wakefield and fancied a Sunday roast so went here and it was amazing! The waitress we had, Caroline, was super friendly and offered us amazing service. Will definitely be back soon!
Great atmosphere with some lovely outdoor seating options. A short but dashing young barkeep named Lou was very helpful with suggesting items off the menu and made me feel welcome. Will be coming back.

I came in on sunday 10th march, the food was amazing and our server Caroline was happy and bubbly, would definitely recommend.
