Their fish was as lovely as ever, but my problem was being overcharged. I didn't check prices at the time but looked at a pic of the interior that I'd taken on my way home. Haddock is £9, and the chips are £2.40. I was charged £16 which is £4.60 more than it should have been. I emailed them straight away on Friday afternoon, but they haven't bothered to reply. This is sad because I have always gone there when visiting Southend as their fish is the best.

Wanted to try this place a few times when I've used palace theatre but it's always closed afterwards. Had a drive to try it out well worth it properly cooked fresh not frozen fish can't remember the last time i ate fish and the batter stayed crispy right to the last bite. Reasonably priced good portion size and very friendly helpful staff . If this was closer it would definitely be my regular.

I read a previous review saying that Oldhams offers gluten-free options, but they do not. The only choices we were given were poached salmon or a jacket potato. They do not have gluten-free batter and do not grill fish. If you're looking for traditional battered fish and chips that are gluten-free, I suggest going somewhere else.

Oldhams is a well-established family-run restaurant that has been around for a long time, and their experience shows. They offer traditional fish and chips along with some modern additions, all served fresh and delicious. It's a taste of nostalgia done right. Réservez une table maintenant

We hadn't booked and the restaurant was busy but we managed to get a table. We ordered plaice and chips as well as a roll and butter. The food was served pipping hot, however, the only problem was the fish batter was extremely oily

A great local business, serving up generous portions of food. Old fashioned charm, and good friendly service. Great value, especially on Monday evenings with a 2 for 1 deal. It makes a family meal out very affordable.

The staff was extremely friendly and the fish was cooked fresh right in front of us. It was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. The lunch deal was priced very reasonably.
