Olive Garden Merritt Island

We flew from Kansas City to Florida, made a reservation, and ordered a cake from Publix since Olive Garden stopped making their delightful mint chocolate cakes years ago. We also shared our meal with my cousins who live nearby. When the manager saw our cake and learned about our celebration, he took the time to come over and hear our story. He was incredibly kind and made us feel like part of the family! To top it all off, he treated us to our meal and even gave us a gift card! This was the worst experience in an olive garden ever, let alone in local restaurants. We usually go to Melbourne or Orlando locations. Today we decided to go to Merritt island and it was terrible service. The food was good but our host that was buying us lunch didn't get his food for an hour. Then he was upset enough that he lost his appetite. The server never brought our bread sticks out once to us. We had to ask other workers. Then she brought out the salad and soups at the same time. Never refilled our drinks and I need a drink to eat due to a health problem. She never grated our cheese we actually had to go get and do it ourselves. It wasn't even busy. We started off late and arrived right around 9pm so we were worried about the service. I am glad to say the service was great and we were seated immediately even on new year's eve. It wasn't packed at all but the food was even more delicious then all of the other times we've been. Our waiter was very nice and made sure we were well warned about the hot plates and came by to check up on us without rushing us to get out. Very rich food and great timing, I'd say we had our food no more than ten minutes after ordering. Also, probably due to it being late, the music wasn't too loud and it wasn't annoying like other restaurants have in the daytime.

In the food service industry, one bad experience can have a significant impact. Our first batch of breadsticks was incredibly hard—so much so that it was impossible to break them. The initial bowl of chicken gnocchi soup wasn't much better; the pasta was overcooked and resembled a starchy mess the size of golf balls. However, the second round of breadsticks came out hot and soft, and the next bowl of soup was so delicious that I actually forgot to take a picture of it. I always enjoy dining at Olive Garden. We ordered the extra-large Chicken Parmigiana, which was both delicious and generous in portion – we were able to get two meals out of it! I also loved the Grilled Chicken Margherita. While the Zuppa Toscana didn't taste quite right initially, they quickly brought us a fresh batch, and it was delightful. We received lunch from one of our vendors. It was delivered by Gretchen who was absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond by setting the food up and even putting out bunsen burners to keep the food hot. We really appreciated everything she did. We order a lot from the Merritt Island location and this was the first time we had a set up like Gretchen did!

For a chain restaurant, this location manages to have a small town feel. I often see the same people both employees and customers every time we come here. Staff is always friendly, and the restaurant is always clean. The bathrooms are probably the only area in which this location could use a little extra attention to detail.

Great food as always while dining in. Take out food isn’t always the best though. Not sure if Olive Garden has any control over that. The flavor and freshness is not always there. Also, my salad is missing frequently from take out orders and after a couple times, it starts to get very annoying. Réservez une table maintenant

This is extraordinary!!! Imagine shrimp and chicken to be crispy outside but juicy inside…just the correct balance between all flavors…worth it!
