Omar's Kitchen is one of the few Uyghur restaurants in L.A. It is the ethnic Muslims from the northwest province of China and more characteristic to Turkey. The food is halah and is a cross between Turkish and Chinese cuisine. Lamb is a staple protein of Uyghur cuisine. We had the traditional Laghman which is their hand pulled noodles with stir fried lamb vegetables which was absolutely delicious. Their cumin lamb has a slightly different flavor profile that you would normally have at a Sichuan restaurant, but equally good. We also had more traditional Chinese dishes like salt and pepper fish and shrimp with vegetable, but also cooked and served with a little bit of a twist from the Turkish...
We lovvvvved this restaurant and its recipes. We have been long-time customers of another Halal Chinese Restaurant In Anaheim, CA but for a change, we visited Omar's Kitchen on my Birthday and since then, it is our GoTo. So far we have tried Hot &Sour Soup, Lamb Kabobs, Mongolian Beef, 3 flavors ChowMein, Black Pepper Beef, Hot &Sour Shrimp, Schezwan Beef and Paratha/ flatbread but every recipe is unique????. We also had the pleasure of learning so much from The host/owner who has a vast knowledge of the Uyghur Turk-based Nation and the restaurant has precious artifacts representing their culture pleasing to the eyes!! Don't be fooled. Extremely rude owner. We showed up at 7 to make a reservation for 8pm. We were advised to show up at 7.30 pm because kitchen would close by 8.30. We showed up at 7.25 and the restaurant was empty. There was one long table that could have accommodated us but were told that there was no one to clean that table. We were then told that all of us would need to fit in 10 ppl table and could not split the group up or all a table. It was not the policy. It just seemed she was trying really hard not to serve us. It's a shame because we had heard good things about this place. No way to give a review lower than 1
This is a hidden gem of a restaurant that deserves more business and attention. It offers a fusion of Chinese and Uighur cuisines, with delicious food, generous portions, and reasonable prices. Unlike many Chinese restaurants, you won't feel 'gross' after eating here. The husband and wife who own and operate the place are very friendly and attentive. The menu has a variety of options to choose from, but the lamb potstickers are a must-try. They are unique, flavorful, and cooked fresh, especially when paired with their delicious sauces.

Wonderful freshly made food. The customer service is great. It is importantTo keep in mind it is family owned but the food is so fresh and good. We visit a lot because it's tasty food and we don't feel horrible after. The ambiance is beautiful and they've clearly put so much effort into decorating it. We always go here when we visit from Northern California. Def better than the heavy halal Chinese food places there
I've been looking everywhere in Texas for a place that serves Da Pan Ji, and when I came to Cali, that's the first thing I wanted to eat again. This dish is amazing in every aspect, it's healthy, full of proteins, and halal! Although it's a bit too big for me to finish, I get to enjoy eating this during my stay in LA. If you're ever in the area, Omar's Kitchen is a great choice to try out Uyghur cuisine.
The service at this restaurant may not be the most attentive, but that's not really the focus of this type of establishment. Instead, it's all about the authentic and delicious food. They offer a mix of traditional main dishes along with some more unique options like the lamb and noodle dish, which was surprisingly good. I definitely plan on returning in the future.
The food is Halal Chinese, similar to other Chinese food. I have known for many years of the persecution of the Muslim Chinese ethnic group known as the Uyghurs. They come from the province in the Northwest of China. The Owner Omer spent some time with us telling about his country and the language.Very interesting food and discussion.

The food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, with very tender meat and a generous portion size. There is a great diversity of flavors that complement each other well, and the owner/chef is very kind. It feels like you're eating a home-cooked meal. I highly recommend this place. Food: 5/5
