The Roast dinner appealed but in practice there were serious problems. The Roast Sirloin of Beef was overcooked because in point of fact heated in microwave. The Chicken likewise, the gravy for both dishes was beef based and had a flavour of fat, what a shame as the vegetables were excellent and cooked very well. Unfortunately this meant that the whole meal was basically inedible. The pudding was Apple crumble and looked and tasted as if it was bought in not made on site, but that may be unkind. My brother in law and his wife joined us for an early dinner in September, to celebrate our wedding anniversay. Well, whilst neither of us had previously dined at Oscars, at only 6.00/6.30pm on a Friday evening, we were the only ones in the restaurant and strangely, even by 8.00pm, there was only one other family in for dinner almost an unearthly silence. Went with friends for a birthday not at all impressed with service or food. Seemed to wait a long time for food and considering there were not a lot of tables in. Thought the fish dish was over priced for one sea bass fillet very expensive usually you would expect at least two fillets and other portion sizes of desserts were very small for price.waitress dropped a pot of tartare sauce when clearing the table and didn’t even clean it up we only realised this was done as a couple of guests had the sauce over their shoes and clothing not at all professional it’s a good job no one slipped on the floor or maybe that was because we cleaned it up. I had a disappointing experience at the afternoon tea at this restaurant. I called ahead to confirm that they could accommodate a dairy intolerance, and was assured that they could cater to various dietary needs. When I arrived and confirmed again that one of the party was dairy intolerant, it took longer than expected for our food to arrive. When it did, there was a difference in what was provided for me compared to the rest of the party. When I questioned this, the staff member said they struggle with dairy intolerances and only brought out a small fruit salad. Second dinner in 5 months and the experience was top notch from friendly service to excellence of cuisine. Great choice, fresh ingredients, freshly prepared with skill and competence. The lamb shank is to die for as is the Sunday roast. The wife had the sea bass and I've rarely seen her clear the plate with as much gusto. She raved over the fish. Would definitely go again. Not the cheapest at first sight yet excellent value for what's on offer. Plus clean well appointed decor and surroundings. Service with a smile. Recommended.
Took a while to get served and I ordered the Kefalonia Platter based on images from previous photos on Facebook. The chef must have changed. The salad was limp and tasteless, The lamb Shish was not cubed but a Kofte similar to the Beef. I tried for about 10 minutes to get the attention of someone but they were slow coming round and made no eye contact. Ordered one wine and wanted another but gave up and went to bed.
