Osteria Calprino - Réservation de table

We went to this place nights since it was in walking distance from our hotel. First night was perfect with organized service good wine recommendation, fantastic Filetsteak from bbq. With the other nights service was unorganized and it seemed to be a...lottery if you got your course or not. We saw our beef leaving the bbq and it never made it to our table. We ordered a second bottle of wine to pass time… that was nearly empty when we were asked if we wanted dessert… we then pointed out that we had not yet had our main course… next time I got my starter and my husband’s only came after an inquiry from our side. We got turned away the first night as it was Saturday evening; we made sure to book a few days after. The food was all quite great tartar for starter, then mains of risotto with local cheese (amazing) and polenta with mushrooms (mushrooms and...sauce were divine but I didn't like the polenta, it was too dry). I was a little taken aback by the self-confidence of the waiter (refused to serve us olive oil to the bread) but he was very kind to share his knowledge about the local ingredients. I guess the self confidence comes with the popularity of the place; it got full on a Tuesday evening while we were having our dinner).

We decided to visit Osteria Calprino at the last moment on a Saturday. Luckily we were able to call ahead for a reservation two hours before we wanted to dine. Recommend calling ahead as there is limited outdoor seating. We had a lot of fun...from the moment we arrive until we left. The server was so pleasant. The risotto and gnocchi were excellent. So fresh. We also had a bottle of local Ticino Merlot Quattromani' that was really superior. Was a real surprise and happy we were able to get a table.

Cozy place with outstanding food and lovely staff. Environment makes you feel like you’re at your Nonna’s home, and so does the food. We tried the Risotto and the Rabbit, both really well prepared and tasty. The homemade Tiramisu was a great closure.

Food is delicious, warm and friendly atmosphere. Claudio, the manager, is an expert cheese and wine sommelier. He will take you through a tasty experience of food and wine, where flavours are in perfect harmony. Highly recommended!!

Excellent food and very good service. Local food and not a big menu, fresh food. Local wine available (very good). Not a fancy restaurant but charming. Terrace is close to the road (no issue though, not too noisy).

Strongly recommended to taste the Ticino food. Polenta is very good. Costine di vitello are anotther dish to try. Staff friendly. Réservez une table maintenant
