Family members had recommended coming to the Osteria del Corso for a truly excellent Italian culinary experience. So I took a couple of visiting international colleagues there recently and I can confirm that this is a great place. Hubby and I were looking forward to dine at the Trattoria Enoteca but our hotelier insisted that we have no need to reserve since they always double book each table...how wrong was that! We arrive and no place was available , the hotel front desk...went our of their way to look for an alternative and recommended us this wonderful place. Since we were driving it too us mins to get there , the restaurant was almost full but they found a quiet corner table for us and our large doggy companion. This is a genuine osteria, certainly a cut above the average pasta and pizza place. It's true that you can order either, but the pasta is home made and the sauce is a genuine Italian ragout. The pizza is good, but it would be a...shame not to go more upmarket. Service is efficient and friendly. The ambience fringes on fine dining without the snobbism sometimes attached to osterias. Both the food and wine prices reflect the white linen ambience of the place, so expect to pay more than in other Italian restaurants in Glaebbisch.
Quality ingredients, great portions, spot on customer service. We tried the Emiliana pizza which looks enormous but is just the right portion for a person who brought an appetite and pasta with squid, prawns and amazing mix of Italian goodness. The mixed starters were a...delight to share and try too. We will definitely recommend and we would love to come back soon. Don’t forget to make a reservation because the place gets packed especially on a Friday and you may need to wait should you decide to walk in. Yum yum yum!
Yes, you can order a Pizza if you like or just a Pasta dish. And probbaly this kind of food is also better than at the average everyday Italian restaurant. But if you go for the real Italian cuisine you will be rewarded with a...wonderful experience. And if you are enjoying a really good wine just ask for a recommendation.
