Osteria fusoli It's been over 10 years since I first visited and always longed to return, hoping it would stay true to its roots. Happy to report all is as I remembered it to be as they celebrate 20 years in business. A true trattoria experience with an elegant atmosphere at a reasonable price. It's the only Italian restaurant I'd recommend in the entire Yolo county. My appetizer polenta con piselli was excellent. Grilled polenta cakes topped with melted buffalo mozzarella, peas, and pickled lemon. They offer an incredible selection of other appetizers plus fresh soups and salads. Osteria is located in a spot in town where many people in Davis do not know about. When you enter, it feels like your going to someone's garden-backyard, and there is some nice foliage and decor. I'd say it has a nice rustic and small-town feel, which is what Davis is. I went here recently for 10th year anniversary. It's hands down, the best/authentic Italian restaurant in Davis. The service was great, Pam was really helpful and helped us feel at home when we sat down outdoors. The food was exquisite and the plate presentation is what you'd expect from a upscale restaurant. Food definitely not worth the price. Why is a piece of salmon fish that size cost $40? Appetizers were actually good. Parmigian souffle with peaches was sweet, but worked surprisingly well together and as a savory dish. Clams and mussels were also very good, enough garlic and very balanced wine flavor. Free bread was ehh. Eggplant fusilli had the pasta cooked to the perfect bite, but really wasn't all that, for $30 is crazy. The pastas did give a lot quantity wise, but the secondi not so much. Dessert was alright. This ís very much a place older Americans come to sit for 2 hours, drink wine, and feel fancy. Food takes a long long time to come.
We absolutely love this restaurant. This place has become the place that we go to for all our special occasions and even if we just want to treat ourselves for a nice dinner. As someone who is vegetarian and whose husband is celiac, we appreciate and love the options available for both of us. Some seasonal menus we love more than others, though we have found something we love on each menu. Only once have we tried something that we really did not like and they were very kind and understanding of it. We recommend sitting outside since it's a beautiful garden and a little less cramped than the interior dining. This is THE hidden gem of Davis. Réservez une table maintenant
Booked a reservation for four for a celebration. The service was wonderful, accommodating, and very friendly! We chose inside because we were worried it would be too hot outside. After it cooled down, we regret not picking outside! The food was phenomenal and you could tell it was authentic Italian. No chicken Alfredo and no spaghetti or meatballs in sight. Note the portions are on the smaller side so don't hesitate to order more than one main dish or get apps and a salad.
I was disappointed. We’d gone a few times a couple of years ago and loved it, but this time the food was just okay and the atmosphere had lost its charm. The service was good, but again not up to par as before. All of this and the prices had increased a lot. We were thinking it might have changed ownership because it just wasn’t the same. We ate here at the beginning of the summer. We had a group of 10 people and ate outside. From our first course to our last it was fantastic. The appetizers were great and our service was spectacular from start to finish. I have been here many times and I'm always amazed by the food and service.
