My sister encountered misogynistic, ageist and profoundly anti-disabled practices at this cafe. She's in her late sixties, severely disabled and in pain from spinal stenosis and suffers from diabetes insipidus. Recently, she went in feeling faint and chronically dehydrated which leaves her prone to passing...out and tremors. As well as ordering lunch, she asked for a glass of water. When it didnt arrive she asked again. It didnt arrive a second time. Finally fearing that she was going to faint she left in order to buy an bottle of water and was, by this time, too shaky and unwell to return. Having met a friend for breakfast I ordered sour dough toast with am. At £2.50 three small pieces was barely acceptable, but arriving burnt was certainly not. I returned them politely asking for a replacement and the chef' eyed me, saying, You think that's burnt?...That's not burnt They were blackened! I found the desire to argue with me really inappropriate. Bad attitude from staff is never going to keep customers' loyalty. Then, having asked for an americano, a black coffee in a cortado cup arrived and I was told That's a long black'. I asked for a larger cup *standard capuccino size) and poured the coffee into that. I popped in a month or so ago, for a quick lunch on the hoof. I went for the quiche and salad, that came with homemade coleslaw that was delicious. All very fresh and the service was affable, low key and polite (greatly enjoyed the...Prince soundtrack playing in the background and reminiscing about the artist, with the very enthusiastic Prince fan who was also my waiter). The shop surrounding the diners is quirky, if possibly a bit behind my financial budget and the fresh bread they sold looked great. Will be back!

This is a lovely local shop and cafe. The deli and bakery are fabulous. The main highlight for me is their spelt bread, fresh every day. It is a particular pleaseure for me as I can't normally digest wheat but this is an exception. I...can't personally eat them but I understand their cinnamon buns are also exceptional! Saturday late lunch, 4 of us, this was our second visit and again we were again very pleased service was attentive if a little slow, but the food was fresh, with some original combinations of flavours. Burger, Mac Cheese, Panninis, good choice of beers.

Been to Owens cafe on a few occasions for coffee and lunch. Whilst it isn’t amazing, it has always been consistently good and I’ve always enjoyed the food, and the service is reasonably good, although find the staff could be friendlier.

Great place to hire for a family celebration. Delicious food and friendly staff. We had standing up bowl food and a delicious selection of desserts.
