Absolutely horrific is how I would describe my experience with Park Tavern. I used Open Table to book a reservation after looking at PT 's website and menu. This was for a special family night that included dinner and tickets to the Botanical Gardens. When we arrived there was no one to greet us, when we went to the bar to inquire about our reservation (after getting blasted by a cloud of weed) we were told, Ya I don 't know why they do that it 's just seat yourself, serve yourself . Disappointed we sat ourselves and ordered from the online menu. Ordered at 6:32 response was food would be ready at 7:10. We left at 7:20 for our 7:30 Botanical Gardens reservation with NO FOOD! First time at Park Tavern and it was not as the website had led us to believe. Sat down under in the covered patio. It was very dog friendly, but very noisy from the blaring sound system made it hard for us to carry on normal conversation. Also, there is no table service, you have to order at the bar and go inside to pick up your food. While the staff is friendly and accommodating, it's not what i expected it to be. And there was no mention of this on their website. In fact, the website still recommends making an online reservation (which was totally unnecessary on a Sunday at 11:30am.
We went in a Sunday afternoon. No need for reservation-there’s not even a hostess. You walk up and order at the bar then find a table and wait for a text to tell you to go get your food. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. The food was fine-typical “pub food” although pretty expensive. Of course the plus is you can sit outside and look at the park. The patio was covered and super hot that day. We ate outside.
I don't know why Open Table is set up to take reservations. There was NO TABLE SERVICE. You needed to order at an outside bar and pick up your food at the inside bar on a tray. Not what I recalled about this restaurant. It's been many years since I’ve eaten there. Is it under new management? The indoor seating area was empty and devoid of ambiance.
We arrived for our 11:30 reservation and they were closed. We knocked and a guy opened and said “Oh is it 11:30?” We should have left then. No one seated us. I went to the outside bar and the young woman told us to sit anywhere. We waited another 10-15 minutes, no waiter. We left. Wont be back.
