I went to Patisserie Valerie with my son and sister today as a summer holiday treat. Was every so disappointed. It wasn 't her fault but there was only one girl serving, she was running around answering the phone, cleaning tables, taking enquiries ect We waited 20 minutes to have the table we were seated up cleared around us and to have our order taken. We asked for 2 coffees, a scone and a scoop of ice cream for my son. The coffees came out reasonably quickly, the scone was warm but was really hard I didn 't want to complain as a few items I had asked for first were out of stock and I actually felt bad for the girl on her own. My husband and I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant for Afternoon Tea (our second time having it here). The service was excellent, with quick food and drink delivery. Our Waitress, Janecca, informed us that we could have unlimited hot drinks with the Afternoon Tea Food. My husband enjoyed a pot of tea while I indulged in two hot chocolates, and I would have had more if we had stayed longer. The sandwiches, scones, and pastries were delicious. I had some difficulty redeeming my voucher online, but the Manageress, Micaela, was incredibly helpful and resolved the issue promptly. We recently visited as a family with young children for Afternoon Tea All staff were amazing and so friendly with nothing being a problem and very welcoming to the children We used vouchers for Afternoon Tea which was amazing value for money. The sandwiches were a very good size with deep fillings, the cakes scrummy and the scones were fresh abd warm. We ordered extra toastier which was also very tasty. Not many Patisserie Valerie’s left around so this was a real gem and hopefully gets used more to keep it going Definitely recommend and will be back
The restaurant was charming and spotless, with friendly and attentive staff. Despite being very busy, we were not kept waiting. The food was delicious and the drinks were wonderful. What really impressed us was how much the staff seemed to enjoy their work.

The afternoon tea was really lovely, we were given a nice selection of sandwiches which were not just your big standard ham or cheese sandwich. Scones were warm when they arrived and the cakes were delicious. Very kind staff, overall a great experience!

Lack of service, really the place is a car crash, not been in here for a long while and won’t be going in again. Restaurant dirty, long waiting though relatively empty. Generally more like a school canteen

As a regular customer I've never had anything bad, the staff especially Ana Maria are very attentive, always served hot food, it's the best place in Southend to eat.
Exceptionally friendly staff...very attentive even though short staffed. Sandwiches and cakes delicious..will return.
