There are two types of Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities: either Hmong fusion (mostly Thai but some Laos, Vietnamese, and even Korean foods) and then actual Thai resteraunts. Unfortunately, this was Hmong, and possibly the worst I have visited so far. Nothing against Hmong people. I have just found that the best Thai food in the Twin Cities are made by Thai people, especially Lisu Thai cooks. I tried the classics such as wontons and chicken satay. Bland but edible. I also tried the salt and pepper calamari. It was dreadful. The Thai Tea was okay, but pre-mixed in a pitcher. They were out of some of the other items I asked for, and there was no dessert options. They didn 't have Thai coffee...
I used to LOVE pattaya. I went in today and found out they were under new ownership (it had been a while since we moved out of the area). Anyways, figured I'd still give it a go since I drove an hour for it. . . I won't make the drive again. I order pad thai, because if that isn't good then I figure I don't really want to try anything else. It wasn't that great. It wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't the old pad thai that made me fall in love with Pattaya. As I eat my left overs, I'm getting more of an american chinese flavor, which is making me want to go down to one star, but it's left overs so I'm not sure that it's fair to do that. I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The customer service was lacking, and the food was terrible. I spent nearly $50 on a watery coconut soup that contained only four small shrimp and a few onions and cherry tomatoes—it was just unappetizing! When I brought my concerns to the waiter, he simply shrugged and walked away, which was quite frustrating. Overall, I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all at 1 out of 5. My lunch was not worth the $10–20 range per person. Dine in at your own risk!
I ordered from this restaurant on Uber Eats last night. It took more than an hour for my food to arrive. The papaya salad was only half full and mostly contained carrot slices. The beef pho was mostly made up of fatty pieces and had just two meatballs. The flavor was off, almost tasting like nutmeg. The egg rolls arrived cold and quite soggy.
