My partner and I attended the recent 5 Course Gin Food Pairing at Patton's Bar and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the event was and we're hoping that they arrange another one. Upon arrival we were given some very fruity punch and shown to a table for 6 even though there were only 2 of us, so clearly we were all going to be sharing something which turned out to be the starters. The starters of salmon in various forms was very good fresh, tasty and succulent a great start. The gins for the evening reflected mostly reflected local production: Shortcross, Jawbox, Tanquery, Fifty Pound and Daffy's all very good and well served with suitable tonics, though the Daffy's neat was a trial!! The venison hotpot main course was also very good and was very tasty. The dessert of cheese board and a chocolate moose/fondant were also very good. The staff did an excellent job and were very attentive which made a big difference to the evening. I'd definitely return for another evening the overall cost of £45 was excellent value and. The only minor points were that it started late and lasted well over 3 and a half hours less than 3 hours would have been better.
