After wandering around Viseu during the day, idly looking at restaurants we decided to return here in the evening without a booking. We managed to bag the last table for two, that and with the high number of non tourists already there we took to be good signs. There is a pretty extensive menu but we were taken by the fish platter displayed lovingly by the lady in charge. Hiding under all the fish was a wonderful looking turbot that'll do us nicely. After a fair bit of concern that we had chosen the most expensive item on the menu it was taken off to the kitchen to be cooked. A short while later it returned, accompanied by a simple bowl of mixed vegetables and boiled potatoes. Absolutely stun...
We rented a car in Porto and drove to Vila Real, Viseu and Caimbra before returning. We were in Viseu at about 13h and walked around the cathedral and main shopping street looking for somewhere to eat. All the places we saw were closed (5 December)! Until we found this delightful restaurant. We had the menu of the day: vegetable soup and grilled pork with rice. It was very good and flavourful. The ambiance was great and we could see that many locals were having lunch there too. Exceptional value as the price including drink was just 7 euro p.p.
The restaurant was highly recommended by our hotel so we went for dinner. I ordered a grilled octopus main dish and it came with grilled potatoes and some steamed vegetables and some beans. The octopus was delicious as well as the potatoes as usual in Portugal. My husband ordered a smoked sausage and i think it was ok. Not as good as mine. Staff was friendly in the restaurant. Would recommend if you are in Viseu.
We had a very nice diiner sitting outside on a beautiful fall night. We had the bacalhau à Braz which was really tasty, and the Posta à Viseu , which was very well cooked and seasoned...really tasted good. Friendly service, reasonable prices (although I expected prices to be lower around here). Overall a very nice diner experience for sure Réservez une table maintenant
Came here for dinner and had the pork with pineapple plus egg pudding for dessert. Food is abbundant and well made. The room may look too old school but this is a local favourite, so you know it has to be good. Staff are friendly and the service was quick. The kind of place where they give your kid a lollipop at the end of the meal!
After visiting Viseu in the morning, looking for a good salad we arrived at this nice restaurant Only Portugueses inside we enjoyed also the little clean and cosy terrace No salads on the card, but the very nice lady offered this without any problem With wine and coffee we had 22€... Great overlooking the main square
A typical place to eat in Viseu. The service is great and the food it's even better. I recommend the codfish or the steaks. In terms of location, the place is just in the city center. Call previously and make a reservation. The place is small and croudy due, since it's one of the best places to eat in Viseu.
