Peppino has been a fixture in Kensington for as long as I can remember. There is always a welcoming smile when you stop by. The sandwich menu can be daunting. So many options, only one appetite. After close to 20 years, I can say with confidence there are only good choices. Spicy? Vesuvius? Healthy? Crantastic Turkey or maybe a Mediterranean. Hungry? Definitely Da Nico's. personally, a Joe's Special on white is like heaven on a bun.The gelato is made in house and is amazing. Mango, coconut, hazelnut, Straciatella, Guinness. the list goes on. The pasta and sauces are also heavenly. The lunch special is always amazing, and huge. The takeaway pastas and sauces let you bring some of the magic home. Trust me, worth stopping by.
Popped in to order a couple of sandwiches from their menu board today. Service was pleasant and efficient. Once the orders are made the staff jumps into their routine in slicing the fresh bread rolls and the cold cuts needed for the job. Nicely wrapped and sliced in two the sandwiches are ready to go. My friends went to the car while I got sidetracked to another shop. By the time I got back to them, the sandwich they shared was gone and smiles covered their faces. Mine was just as good. Next time I'll grab mine and walk down to the river to enjoy it.
So good. All the ingredients are fresh and really delicious. It's clean and everyone there is very friendly as well. You should try to stop here for sure if you are travelling in Calgary. Parking can be a bit of a challenge when it's busy but if you're willing to walk for a few minutes you should be fine. A wonderful place for a delicious lunch.
