Pericoota Station - AccommodationWe recently went for a two night stay at this amazing property for the past 20 years I've admired this homestead whilst skiing the river and we finally got to stay here. The entrance to the Station is absolutely beautiful and the gardens surround the front of the property look truly like a beautiful park. We had a group of 5 couples and two singles staying so there were plenty of sleeping options for us. The rooms all had very comfortable bedding with crisp clean sheets, towels and bathroom amenities. We visited the beautiful, rustic Perricoota Restaurant with high expectations. On arrival we were disappointed to learn there was only a set menu and probably should have cancelled at that stage.The welcome by the staff was warm and friendly. We were shown to our table which had a beautiful view over the deck and river. We were visiting from Melbourne and stumbled upon this gem. We drove along the palm lined driveway to the restaurant and were warmly greeted by the owner & staff on the front steps. Upon entering I was overwhelmed with the venue - beautifully decorated but respecting the history. We wandered out to the deck for a couple of icy cold drinks (it was a 35 degree day) and then sat at an inside table for an hour or so. Whilst there we asked to see the menu and chatted to staff about accommodation in the homestead. They were very happy to give us info and a look at the menu. Really dissapointed with the service, or lack thereof, still waiting for first drinks when our food came, and then we had to to ask to actually get them. Not enough water glasses on arrival and oil and dukka present but no bread until we asked, arriving a bit late considering the the main had already arrived. Dirty plates left on tables until we piled them up ourselves, few customers so shouldn't have been a lack of staff. Offered coffee and dessert, yes thanks but somewhere else. Wont be returning in a hurry thats for sure.
A courtesy bus to picked us up from our location, the driver and wife are the owners of the property and were very informative about the history on the way there. We had a beautiful meal and the atmosphere was lovely, overlooking a deck and a pontoon on the Murray River. The staff were friendly and had a chat with us without being in our face, they actually poured the wine for us, doesn't happen much these days. We will definitely be back again. The owners were a pleasure to deal with.
We went with a group for Lunch the menu is not very extensive so you would expect the meals to be perfect, however a beautiful piece of beef was served in two pieces instead of just one nice thick piece causing the meat to be overcooked, no table service for drinks, not enough water glasses for the number of table settings,We were not even offered Desert.Lack of attention to detail spoilt our day out.
Worth the 20 km drive from Echuca/Moama. Great outlook over the Murray and we had a very good set menu lunch on fathers day. Very good beef and pork and absolutely out standing vegetables (of which there were 8 or 9). Worth a walk around the gardens of the house The new owner is turning this into a great location. Will definitely return if in the area.

Dined for lunch at the Packing Shed over the long weekend. An old orange packing shed and historic homestead. Due to long weekend, the restaurant had a 2 course roast for $35 per head - very good value and terrific venue. Situated overlooking the Murray River and beautiful location and great part of our history.
