Thanks to migrants from Vietnam (a French colony until 1954) one used to get excellent Vietnamese food in France. I picked the Phenix d'Or because it was close to my hotel and it was well rated which, unfortunately is something I cannot understand: the food presented was the antithesis of freshly prepared Asian cuisine. The nem, the wan tan and the beignet de crevette were deep-fried to death. The main dishes (ginger chicken and Bon Bun au boeuf) seemed pre-fabricated, under-spiced and overcooked. The restaurant's interior tried to convey a modern minimalistic style but any IKEA showroom is more charming. The owner tried hard to flog a bottle of red (this is Bordeaux after all) for €29 a bot...

It was a disappointing visit to Phenix Dor, a vietnamese restaurant next to the Cathedral. We ordered Tri-délice aux fruits de mer , with prawns, squid and scallops and Ravioli croustillants stuffed and made in the oven. Unfortunately both dishes were not tasty and the impression was that the ingredients, although fresh, were not of high quality. For instance, the prawns did not have much flavour, didn 't seem of bouquet quality (pink shrimps).Too bad for a restaurant rated in a good position by Tripadvisor.

We decided to stop by but the menu was really poor. Soup was nothing special, main dish was amazingly small and dessert was a bowl of coconut milk. Wine was good but we paid 19€ for it. Do not recommend. Total rip off.
