I have a tip in Frankenthal Philips Brasserie. I also know the only restaurant in Frankenthal that is currently recommended in the corresponding guides. Philips Brasserie We know the restaurant from the time in Bad Dürkheim am Römerplatz, where it has been home for 10 years before it moved to Frankenthal in mid-2012, next to the Hotel Central to the center of the city. The ambience in Bad Dürkheim was clearly more picturesque with a large outdoor area under shaded trees. Here in Frankenthal there are only 3 4 tables in the outdoor area at the beginning of the pedestrian zone, at least the window front of the restaurant can be opened. On 15.10.2016, on the occasion of my birthday, we stayed with 4 guests at the Brasserie for dinner. Except for a couple, we were the only guests. The food was excellent,the waiter was friendly and attentive, but his wine knowledge is quite viable! The ambience is beautiful, but only up to the stairs in the basement, there will be ́s duster and the ladies’ toilet entangled the language : spider fabrics between toilet wall and floor, a dirty, black-luggish curtain in front of the cellar window, on the window board dead flies, a toilet had no attachment etc. Again: the food was great, for everything else I was ashamed of my guests!!
The Biergarten is wonderful. As it is located behind a square (a couple of meters from the Rathaus) it is very quiet. The threes make a god job keeping the temperature pleasant even in hot summer days. The Weinschorle is fine and the they have two options of Flammkuchen: Italian and Elsässer. Both are great!The service is a little bit to slow but very friendly. I recommend the place, specially for a couple of beers in the end of the afternoon.
The beer garden is wonderful. Since it is located behind a square (a few meters from the town hall), it is very quiet. The three make a God job to keep the temperature comfortable even in hot summer days. The wine choir is fine and they have... two options of flame cake: Italian and Alsace. Both are great! The service is a little too slow, but very friendly. I recommend the place, especially for a few beers at the end of the afternoon.
