We went to Bao's kitchen twice recently, first time on a Saturday lunch, the food was tasty and fresh. We got spicy pig ears and alcohol chicken as entrees, bamboo and pork stew/hotpot for main. Then we went again 2 weeks later on a Sunday, the food was pretty awful. We ordered alcohol chicken again, the chicken was oily and chewy, it was clearly been sitting in the fridge for long time. On a Tuesday night it was moderately busy with plenty of people who seemed to know the best dishes to order. We chose the Pork with Ginger and Shallot, that was tasty, but not spicy and came with 6 small pancakes. This was a bargain at $14 and could be a great starter for 3-6 people eating in a group. There was more meat than we could fit in the pancakes so we ordered some Buk Choy $12, to go with the rest. This is probably one of those, constantly busy places. It was packed when I got in. The smoke from the kitchen was spreading through the dining room.
I was excited to try their beef Pho! And it was good, however, I have had better. The initial taste was a bit salty and the meat was not thinly sliced. Instead, Pho is made with large slices that included too much fatty bits, at least for my liking.
It was ok, but I won't be back in a hurry.
The waitress act rudely and not lovely at all. Unbelievable slowly serving is gonna destroy your patient and ruin your wonderful day. For dishes, for the consideration of your health and life,DONT order the hot and sour soup, cuz it is spicy enough to kill your throat. Anyway, don't order any dishes with the"hot" word or "spicy", when they say hot, seriously, they mean that!
Had the pho, fried whole barramundi, clay pot rice with duck, and mixed vegetables. Everything was delicious and service was great - they kept topping up our water, explaining a bit about the food, and the owner/chef came out for a chat at the end.

Not exceptional but good, reliable food. I'd put it into the same category as Timmy's in Manuka for food quality. That is you get Vietnamese food rather than Chinese-Malaysian.

Best food I've had in Dickson in a long time. The sexy calamari was fantastic, paired well with the garlic rice and yummy sizzling chicken. Highly recommended!
A very light pho with deep dark broth colour. The broth is also light in spice flavour but elegant. Good meat-noodle portion. Good and fast service.
