We visited for a business dinner earlier this month. We were all looking forward to try their black angus beef, cooked for several hours at low temperature.We had their fresh pasta with mushrooms as a first course, which was excellent.The beef was very good for most of us, but one of us had to struggle with a slice that was smaller and nowhere near to being as tender as the ones. I wonder whether this issue could not have been avoided by proper selection in the kitchen. Whilst I appreciate that the cost of meat in Switzerland is considerable, especially for biological breeding, I would have expected something more on the side than one small-sized baked potato. I really recomend to try this restaurant, we called really late (about 8pm) to make a reservation and they where really friendly and accepted us at 9:15pm. The view is really amazing and the food really tasty and delicate.The speciality of Piccolo Vigneto is Polenta, they cook it for more than 5 hours. They have a blackboard as menu, and the owner comes to explain all dishes and specialities, same with wine.We tried Porcini salad and was delicious, and about the incredible Costata d'agnello (lamb,) cooked vacuum for 4 hours with polenta absolutely to try. Unlike other grottos, this is open in wintertime as well. Traditional cuisine, with rather large variety of specialties. Kind service and everything very tasty. Beautiful, high view to the lake, facing East -you therefore get the sun before it falls behind the Alps. It's not a small restaurant -in the Summer the sun terrace can host quite large groups. Nearby, you have the cabway to the top of the Mount Brè -a must for visitors.To conclude, this is a recommended choice for romance, business or relaxing moments. We have been enjoying Piccolo Vignetto each time we visit Lugano over the past several years. Located on a mountain high above the Lugano City Centre, guests enjoy a spectacular view of Lago Lugano, the city centre amid a small vineyard where house wine is produced annually. This restaurant celebrates fresh local fare from outstanding osso bucco with polenta and fresh porcini mushrooms to perfect pasta with cremini mushrooms, local vegetables and a great list of local and regional wines. This restaurant is on the Hills of Lugano - few minutes away by car - where the view is amazing.There are sits outside where you can enjoy not only the view but also the fresh air.The food is well presented and good. The waiter places the board with the menu of the week on a chair in front of you and you can take your time to choose. The staff is available for explanation if something is not clear.Good service, good food.It makes surely the difference the space outside with the playgroung for kids. They keep themselves busy, and adults can enjoy their time together.Prices in line with Lugano.
The place is ideal for families with little children as they have a playground right in front of the restaurant. The view is breathtaking and the service friendly. The cold cuts were very good. The main dishes were okay (tatar, ribs) as it lacked seasoning. Overall a good place for a casual dinner in a relaxed atmosphere.
