The location of Pier is great, though the name is a little misleading. You would expect a pier to be close to a big river or at the sea. Pier is right next to the little creek that crossed Erfurt. There is a...picturesque bride crossing this creek to get into the restaurant, though. The waiters and waitresses are dressed up all in black with red suspenders and cuff titles quite a sight. The menu is expansive, though lacking vegetarian options. I asked and was given the option of noodles with mushrooms (which were delicious) or a salad. Yes, the location in a nicely renovated old flour mill in Erfurt's old town quarter is inviting, but we should have observed the name of the access bridge better: azar means bad luck in Portuguese and still by accident in Spanish. And really, for a...rather high-priced restaurant, the sage spaghetti were simply unacceptable: overcooked pasta, cubes of cooked chicken breast and vegetable stock, all prepared without any addition of salt, turned a normally tasty (vegetarian) dish into a undefined stew. Wrong choice. Bad luck. Hope for better times.
This restaurant has a great idyllic location. However, when we asked to sit inside rather than outside as it was getting chilly in the evening, the waiter said that they only serve outside. Their loss, we went to Pavarotti at the Fischmarket and had a...great evening.
