We went to Pier 7 for dinner while visiting family in Red Deer. The place itself was nice enough - we were comfortably seated and attentively waited upon at the outset. However, the meal wasn't what we'd hoped for.For starters, the beer selection is extremely limited - my wife and i ended up sticking to water because they didn't have any brews that we liked. All they had was the lightweight "tourist" brews. That's very unusual! Three out of the four of us had the all-you-can-eat fish 'n chip special. This was ample in quantity and reasonably priced, but I have had far better. The fish has a very thick and heavy batter that encases the fish like a suit of armor - way too heavy. If you're expe...

Last night my son and I decided to check this place out for a bite and maybe watch the game. Waitress on the left hand restaurant type side was a bit busy so we decided to go on the lounge side where there was only 1 other table. We sat and waited for almost 10 minutes without anyone taking our drink order. The waitress from the other side came in to see if anyone had helped us yet since she had sat us. She apologized, grabbed us a water and went to get our waitress. Finally our server graced us with her presence and seemed VERY annoyed that we had not decided on something to eat yet. She then went behind the bar and fixed her hair in the mirror and took a phone call on her cell phone and ne...

Took my wife, daughter and one of her girlfriends here for dinner. 3 out of 4 meals had to be the worst meals we have EVER had anywhere. My wife had the beef dip and fries, which consisted of extremely dry thinly sliced beef on a 5 inch sliced hoagie bun (and that's all no butter, mayo, nothing else on the bun) with an aus jus that tasted like a bouillon cube dissolved in way to much luke warm water I ordered a club sandwich with fries and it was even drier than my wife's with just barely enough of each ingredient to call it a club (the unripe tomatoes were at least left on the side and not placed on the sandwich). My daughter had the donair sandwich which she couldn't even finish as it was s...

We've tried this place 4x since the new owner, and this will most definitely be the last. We never got one good meal (greasy! Bad oil. Small portion. Same menu but not nearly as good as last owners.Just blah), but wanted to give it one last shot. (since I used to be a Huuuuuge supporter when she had Cafe Bodega). The waitress on the lounge side was unbelievably rude! It was like we were an inconvenience as soon as we sat down. She came over super snooty with a dirty look and just expected us to order-no welcomes, how are yous, menus, this is the specials... Nothin. My boyfriend asked what she had on tap, she very rudely said no draft, as if we should know that... Her attitude was so gross and...

This was my first stop upon moving to Sylvan Lake. I liked the name and thought it was right on the water. It's across the street but still has a nice view from the rooftop deck (not that I saw it!) Everyone else had their patio open on the day that I stopped, however, Pier 7 did not open theirs until the next day. It was a stunning day out, beautiful and hot, and I didn't feel like sitting inside so I just had a quick bowl of the Seafood Chowder and a glass of wine. The Chowder was good (salmon), however, I did have to ask to have it heated up. The wine was reasonably priced. They do have great daily specials for meals, appies and drinks so I will return again to try out more of their menu...

We went to Pier 7 in search for sea food, we decided to get only appetizers I had the coconut shrimp, and the other half had calamari, we ordered fries on the side. All delicious, crispy, fresh out of the fryer. I mean it's still pubish food, but it was tasty. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the view. Also our waitress was really great, and on top of things ;)

Food was delicious and service was very good. Think they had troubles in the kitchen because some dishes came out later than most but server was very apologetic and kept drinks filled during the wait. We had a group of 10 so totally understandable. Restaurant itself is nice and welcoming. Definitely go back again.

So unimpressed with this place. Haven't been for quite awhile and so disappointing. The portions are small and way over priced and the owner is incredibly rude! Looks like all the skids moved from chefs to this place. Save your money and go elsewhere not family friendly at all anymore.
