The Pierre Chaude is a superb little restaurant in the main shopping street in Boulogne. It seemed very unassuming from the outside but advertised a vegetarian menu such as was suitable for our son so we went in and found ourselves in a lovely cosy environment full to the4 brim with locals. A table was found for us by a man with a huge welcoming smile and we were soon ensconced in a corner by the bar with a fantastic bottle of wine and a menu with fixed price and general choices. The food was delicious - beautifully presented local dishes cooked on the premises and explained fully before we ate. A really good experience

The restaurant is run by what we presume is a couple. As far as we could tell, he is the only one doing the waiting and she is cooking. As a result, wait times can be a bit longer. Our entrees were really nice (salad and feta). The main course was OK. The boeuf bourguignon tasted fine, but was a little too fat to my liking. My wife had the vegetarian menu and had the toast with goat cheese. The dessert was only so-so for me. The chocolate mousse looked like it was made hours before and the cookie inside tasted like that... All in all a decent meal, not very expensive, but not memorable either.

We had a lovely meal here. The fish soup was excellent and the main course of cod was also very tasty. Home made creme caramel was delicious as was the chocolate mousse. Portions were fairly hefty, the soup in particular was very filling but so good you just wanted to eat it all. House wine was reasonably priced and of good quality. Friendly and attentive service rounded off a very pleasant experience.

We were a little cautious about ordering moules in July, but we were assured that they are so plentiful it is fine. We decided to go for it as so many people at all the restaurants seemed to be enjoying them. We were treated to some of the tastiest small mussels we have ever had. Service was extremely friendly and helpful.
