I suppose any venture associated with Shannon Bennett brings with it a standard, and high one at that, so as a family of 3 venturing out of Melbourne to Sherbrooke for a late breakfast our expectation was high. The drive out lovely and in approaching the grounds, you immediately were pleased to see children playing (as school holidays), the lush surrounds, sounds of wildlife all set amongst a very pleasant but casual layout - certainly there was little fuss about it at all. We travelled quite a distance for lunch and were very pleased with our experience. Staff were very accommodating, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. We arrived at 11.20 and were seated quickly. We loved the industrial, modern feel and couldn't believe how warm the staff were. Half our party ordered from the breakfast menu whilst the others chose to wait for the lunch menu - the trout and burger. Yummy yummy yummy. The soup was delicious and the bread was fresh and full of seeds - delicious! Potatoes and bacon burger were also very pleasing to the palate. I loved the way people shared tables. So great to see a relaxed, family friendly eatery. Bring it on! Well done staff!!!!!

We arrived on a cold wet Sunday to find that there was a wait for both the inside and outside eating areas. Luckily the heaters outside are great and even while waiting the chill was taken off the air. Coffee was offered while waiting to add help reduce the cold. Finally after a short wait we got a table inside for 7 of us and the service and food were just great.

Sadly each time I return here it feels a little more homogeneous. For what you get in terms of service and value there seems to be a cutting edge missing.

With the exception of the burger, the food was disappointing and servings were small, overpriced and lacking interest.
